JANESVILLE — Minnesota Valley Lutheran dominated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 72-33 on Saturday afternoon in nonconference girls’ basketball action.

Abbie Riederer led the Chargers with 26 points, seven rebounds and sive steals, while Emma Nelson added 12 points, 10 rebounds and five steals. Also for MVL, Maddie Pearson had four assists and Abby Nelson had seven rebounds.

MVL (3-1) is at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Tuesday night.

New Ulm Areas has 2 wrestlers place first at Don Hall Invite

GLENCOE — The New Ulm Area wrestling team had two first-place finishers at the Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie Don Hall Invite on Saturday.

Taking first at 170 pounds was NUA’s Cole Ranweiler, who went 3-0 with three pins, while Colby Wenninger also took first at heavyweight with three pins. Also for NUA, Jackson Bode finished third at 138 after going 3-1 with a pin and two decisions, while Julian Hernandez took third at 220 after picking up a bye and two decisions.

Springfield finishes 3rd at Willmar Individual Tournament

WILLMAR — The Springfield wrestling team had a solid start to its season on Friday after finishing third at an individual tournament in Willmar.

Willmar finished first, while Lakeville South took seconds, Springfield took third, Sauk Center-Melrose took fourth, Ortonville finished fifth and Quad County took sixth.

Individual results for the Tigers saw Owen Bertram lead the team by finishing first at 126 pounds.

At 120, Wyatt Schmidt took second place

At 152, Joe Anderson finished second place, while Mason Rummel (195) and Ashton Danielson (Hwt.) each finished third.

Taking fourth place for Springfield was Ethan Langseth at 160 and Colen Moudry at 170.

Prep gymnastics

New Ulm takes 3rd at K&G Invite

MANKATO — The New Ulm gymnastics team finished third out of six teams at the Mankato K&G Invite on Saturday with a score of 135.2.

Mankato West won with a score of 141.575, while Mankato East took second with a score of 135.675.

Kayla Goblirsch took first in the vault for New Ulm (9.275), first in bars (8.95), second in all-around (36.25), third in floor (9.025) and third on the beam (9.0). Also for New Ulm, Ella Friederich took fourth in floor (8.975), while Emily Guggisberg finished fifth on the beam (8.7).

Boys’ hockey

L/DC 4, New Ulm 2

LITCHFIELD — Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato topped New Ulm 4-2 on Saturday in boys’ hockey action.

L/DC took an early 2-0 lead after one period before Josh Gulden and Hunter Hulke tied it up with a goal each in the second period.

Gulden’s goal was short handed, while Nolan Drill had an assist on Hulke’s goal.

L/DC scored two more goals in the third period, however to pull away wit h the win.

Joey Gag had 26 saves in net for New Ulm.

New Ulm hosts Redwood Valley on Tuesday night.
