PREP SOFTBALL
WABASSO 5, EDGERTON/SMC 4 (8 innings)
WABASSO — Wabasso topped Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian 5-4 in eight innings in a nonconference softball game on Monday.
Aylah Jenniges earned the complete-game win for Wabasso, striking out two while allowing four runs, one earned, on eight hits. At the plate, Jenniges was 2 for 4 with a run scored, while Delaina Eis was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Kayleigha Johnson was 2 for 4 with an RBI, while Cassie Bliss had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Wabasso (6-2) plays at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Tuesday.
ST. JAMES 4, MADELIA 1
MADELIA — St. James defeated Madelia 4-1 in a nonconference softball game on Monday.
Emily Jacobs took the loss for the Blackhawks, striking out four while allowing four runs, one earned, on eight hits in a complete game. At the plate, Emma Christensen was 2 for 3, while Alicia Lugo had a hit and an RBI.
Madelia (2-7) hosts Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Thursday.

MADELIA 4, ST. JAMES 2 (8 innings)
ST. JAMES — Madelia downed St. James 4-2 in eight innings in a nonconference baseball game on Monday.
Tate Becker earned the win for the Blackhawks, striking out 15 while allowing two runs on two hits in seven innings. At the plate, Bryce Borkenhagen had a hit and two RBIs, while Tony Zaleski had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Dalton Tatro added a hit and an RBI.
Madelia (8-0) plays at Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda on Tuesday.
FAIRMONT 8, NEW ULM 5
FAIRMONT — Fairmont defeated New Ulm 8-5 in a Big South Conference baseball game on Monday.
Mitchel hopp made the start for New Ulm, striking out two while allowing four runs, three earned, on two hits in three innings. Candon Briggs and Owen Castleman both collected two hits at the plate, while Zach Hubbard had a hit and an RBI.
New Ulm (5-2, 3-2) hosts Marshall on Tuesday.
PREP GOLF
NEW ULM BOYS TAKE THIRD IN DIVISION MEET
WASECA — New Ulm placed third out of seven teams at the first Big South Conference, Black Division boys golf event on Monday.
St. Peter won the meet (151), followed by Marshall (158), New Ulm (164), Waseca (180), Belle Plaine (184), Tri-City United (184) and Worthington (198).
Ethan Schmidt led the Eagles on the day, placing sixth with a 40. Mason Buegler and Brandt Munson both scored a 41 to tie for ninth, while Brayden Wendinger placed 14th with a 42. Marshall’s Elijah Winn and St. Peter’s Ethan Moreau tied for first in the meet, scoring a 36.
