LCWM 2, MVL 0
NEW ULM — While Minnesota Valley Lutheran got a strong outing from Kyan Kube on the hill Tuesday, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial pitcher Griffin Larson got the one-up as he the Knights earned a 2-0 shutout win in a South Central Conference baseball game at Mueller Park.
The Knights right-hander pitched the complete game in the shutout, allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out seven. Jackson Buss led the LCWM bats, going 1 for 3 with two RBIs, while Jack Goeringer and Colton Buss each had a single.
The left-handed Kube allowed three hits and four walks for two earned runs while striking out two in the loss. Kube also had a single, along with Aiden Weisensel and Blake Sexton.
MVL (3-4) is at Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Thursday, while LCWM (6-2) hosts Madelia on Thursday.
ST. MARY’S 16, LESTER PRAIRIE 6 (6 INNINGS)
SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Lester Prairie 16-6 in Tomahawk Division baseball game on Tuesday.
The Knights were able to put the game away in six innings due to the 10-run lead rule.
Merrick Mathiowetz led the Knights with a 4-for-4 day the plate, collecting a single, a triple and a homer with four RBIs and four runs scored, while Tyler Mathiowetz was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Landry Folkens was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs also for St. Mary’s, while Adam Braulick was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and four runs scored, Jalen Brandl was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI and Kyle Nelson was 2 for 4.
Tyler Mathiowetz got the win on the mound in 4 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and seven walks for one earned run while striking out eight.
St. Mary’s (4-4, 4-2) hosts New Ulm Cathedral in a Tomahawk doubleheader on Thursday.
WABASSO 7, GFW 3
WABASSO — Jack Burns led the Wabbaso Rabbits past Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 7-3 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Division baseball game.
He led the Rabbits at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while Jackson Remiger was 2 for 3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs and Drew Kemp had a double and an RBI. Burns also got the job done on the mound, pitching all seven innings and allowing five hits and no walks for two earned runs while striking out six.
Gavin Arceneau and Cole Kemkes each had a hit and an RBI to lead the GFW bats, while Cayson Gosewisch had a double. Owen Swenson took the loss on the mound in 3 1/3 innings of work, allowing five hits and four walks for six earned runs while striking out two.
GFW (0-7, 0-7) is at Lester Prairie for a Tomahawk doubleheader Thursday, while Wabasso (2-4, 1-3) is at Springfield for a Tomahawk doubleheader on Thursday.
SPRINGFIELD 10, BLHS 0 (5 INNINGS)
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield shut out Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 10-0 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Division baseball game.
The game ended in five innings due to the 10-run lead rule.
Aiden Moriarty led the Tigers at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, while Adiel Trevino doubled, drew two walks and drove in a run. Madden Lendt got the five-inning, no-hit shutout, allowing just one walk while striking out eight.
Sprigfield (7-0, 7-0) hosts Wabasso on Thursday in a Tomahawk doubleheader.
GHEC 13, NICOLLET 8
NICOLLET — Nicollet fell to Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 13-8 on Tuesday in a Valley Division baseball game.
Landy Erickson took the loss on the mound in four innings, allowing four earned runs while striking out three and allowing four walks. Kade Forbrook was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for Nicollet at the plate, while Jacob Volby was 1 for 1 with two walks, a run and a stolen base and Jordan Laven had two walks, a hit by pitch and scored two runs.
Nicollet falls to 0-6 on the season with the loss.
PREP SOFTBALL
NEW ULM 9, MARSHALL 0
MARSHALL — Early offense and consistent pitching resulted in the New Ulm softball team downing Marshall 9-0 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference game.
Miley Flor pitched the first two shutout innings for New Ulm, limiting Marshall to four hits with no walks. Megan Brudelie took over from there with another five shutout innings, limiting Marshall to three hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
Natalie Fischer and Madalyn Olson each drove in three runs for the Eagles, coming on a double and a single for Fischer and a double for Olson. Olson also drew a walk and Lauren Schmiesing finished with a double, a single and a walk.
New Ulm improves to 3-3. The two teams play again on Monday, when the Eagles host the Tigers in New Ulm at 5:30 p.m.

CATHEDRAL 10, SLEEPY EYE 1
SLEEPY EYE — New Ulm Cathedral downed Sleepy Eye 10-1 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Division softball game.
Jayde Altermatt allowed two hits and four walks for no earned runs in the win, striking out 12. Ava Schmid was 1 for 3 with two RBIs to lead Cathedral at the plate, while Margo Finstad was 1 for 3 with an RBI.
Taylor Berkner took the loss for Sleepy Eye, allowing four walks while striking out 12. She also was 2 for 3 with an RBI at the plate.
Cathedral (6-2, 5-0) hosts a doubleheader against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Tuesday.
ST. MARY’S 19, LESTER PRAIRIE 4 (6 INNINGS)
LESTER PRAIRIE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s rolled Lester Prairie 19-4 in a Tomahawk Division softball game on Tuesday.
Taylor Mathiowetz earned the win, pitching three innings with six strikeouts, one walk and no hits allowed. Nell Weiss pitched three innings as well, striking out four and allowing four runs on four hits. At the plate, Eva Schweiss was 4 for 6 with a home run, two RBIs and and three runs scored, while Mathiowetz was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and four runs scored. Audra Hoffmann was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Natalie Zarn was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Weiss was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored, Sidney Tauer was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Joslyn Sellner was 2 for 5 with a triple.
St. Mary’s (3-3, 2-3) plays a doubleheader at New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday.
Springfield 1, BLHS 0
HECTOR — Teagan Steffl’s RBI single in the fifth was enough for the Springfield Tigers to defeat Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 1-0 in a Tomahawk Division softball game Tuesday.
Regan Beadell got the complete-game shutout in the circle, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out six. Abby Groebner and Kendall Krueger also each had a single for the Tigers.
BLHS pitcher Chloe Schultz allowed three hits and no walks for one unearned run in the loss while striking out five. Sadie Kirtz was 2 for 4 with a double to lead BLHS at the plate.
Springfield (6-1, 6-0) is at Wabasso for a Tomahawk doubleheader on Thursday, while BLHS (1-7, 0-5) is at Sleepy Eye for a Tomhawk doubleheader on Thursday.
Wabasso 12, GFW 1
WINTHROP — Thanks to a five-run sixth inning, the Wabasso Rabbits were able to take down the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Firebirds early on Tuesday with a 12-1 win in a Tomahawk Division softball game.
The game ended in six innings due to the 10-run lead rule.
Macy Rohlik led the Rabbits at the plate, going 3 for 3 with a double and four RBIs, while Delaina Eis was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Aylah Jenniges was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Jenniges also got the pitching win in six innings, allowing six hits and a walk for one earned run while striking out five.
GFW was led by Ella Nachreiner, who was 2 for 3 with a solo home run in the sixth. Ellison Fitzpatrick took the loss in the circle, going all six innings and allowing 10 hits and four walks for eight earned runs while striking out four.
Wabasso (7-2, 4-2) hosts Springfield in a Tomahawk doubleheader Thursday, while GFW (0-5, 0-5) hosts Lester Prairie for a Tomahawk doubleheader on Thursday.
BOYS TENNIS
St. James 6, New Ulm 1
NEW ULM — The New Ulm Eagles fell to St. James 6-1 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference boys tennis meet.
New Ulm’s lone win on the day came at No. 4 singles when Girffin Lehne defeated Dylan Vite 6-4, 6-1.
The Eagles are at Worthington on Thursday.

SEU GIRLS 188, NEW ULM 220
SLEEPY EYE — New Ulm and Sleepy Eye United split a nonconference golf meet on Tuesday, with the Eagles winning the boys meet 150-159 and SEU winning the girls meet 188-220 at Sleepy Eye Golf Club.
The boys medalist was New Ulm’s Mason Buegler, who shot an even-par 36, while SEU’s Nolan Kucera shot a 37 to tie with New Ulm’s Brayden Wendinger for second. SEU’s Blaine Arneson carded a 38 to tie for fourth along with New Ulm’s Brandt Munson.
The girls medalist was SEU’s Sam Price, who carded a 43, while her teammate Kiara Murphy shot a 44 for second. New Ulm’s Lilly Kral shot a 46 for third, while SEU’s Ella Pollard shot a 49 for fourth, SEU’s Elizabeth Currans shot a 52 for fifth and New Ulm’s Brogan Thordson shot a 55 for sixth.

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield won both sides of a prep golf meet on Tuesday. The Springfield boys scored a169, followed by Minnesota Valley Lutheran (184) and Red Rock Central (205), while the Springfield girls scored a 185, followed by RRC (214) and MVL (219).
The boys meet hada five-way tie for first individually, with Springfield’s Braxton Brown, Eric Davis and Dylan Simonson and MVL’s Owen Birkholz and Philip Lukasek all recording a 41. RRC’s Finn Batalden scored a 44, followed by Springfield’s Blake Zihlke (45), and Colten Sell (46), RRC’s Max Erickson (47) and Springfield’s Isaac Fredin (48).
Springfield’s Mavri Winkelmann won the girls meet with a 41, followed by RRC’s Jorga Brown (44), Springfield’s Ava Lipetzke (46), Springfield’s Annie Kuehn and MVL’s Emilee Fuhr (49), Springfield’s Kynslee Kastner (50), RRC’s Josie Timm (51), MVL’s Aliana Enter and Kara Hinrichsen (56) and MVL’s Eden Grubbs and Scarlet Heldt (57).

ARLINGTON — Nathan Schauer pitched five hitless innings to lead Sibley East over St. Clair 11-0 in five innings in a South Central Conference baseball game on Tuesday.
Schauer collected seven strikeouts to just two walks in his outing on the mound. At the plate, Carson Schmidt was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Alex Bachman had a hit and three RBIs with a run scored. Will Feterl had a double and two RBIs, while Riley Bussler had a hit and two runs scored.
