New Ulm Police

• Took a theft report at 4:58 p.m. Friday of a man stealing $66.12 worth of merchandise at Wal-Mart. The suspect scanned all items at self checkout, then pushed the cart out without paying for items. The case is under investigation.

• Met with a 71-year-old New Ulm woman Friday who said she and other family members were moving items out of her mother’s apartment and set an antique table and antique wooden dry sink outside before loading them and the items were stolen. A witness obtained a vehicle description the suspect drove. Officers learned it may be a 61-year-old New Ulm man. Total value of the two items was $400. The case is under investigation.

• Responded to Casey’s, 314 20th St. South for an assault report at 8:19 p.m. Saturday. Police learned a 43-year-old Greeley, Co. man was assaulted by a 39-year-old Canby man. The Colorado man as transported to New Ulm Medical Center with a broken nose and other possible injuries. The suspect has not yet been located. A report for 3rd-degree assault, domestic assault and disorderly conduct was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Stopped a vehicle for suspicious driving by a 47-year-old New Ulm woman at 10:18 p.m. Saturday. She showed intoxication signs, was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. The woman was cited for 4th-degree DWI. Reports went to the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety and New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.

• Took a vandalism call for vehicle side window borken out at 2:28 a.m. Saturday on the 100 block of German St. North. Damage was estimated at $200. A report was done for documentation.

• Took a report at 8:42 a.m. Monday for a 45-year-old homeless woman who said she was looking for a safe place to spend the night. She said her homeless, 57-year-old boyfriend was abusive. She was referred to Brown County Human Services.

• Took a report Monday of an eight-year-old New Ulm boy taking an air soft gun out of a backpack on a school bus. Police, District 88, New Ulm Bus Lines and the family are investigating.

Sleepy Eye Police

• Responded to a loose dog report at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday at Meadowview Townhomes, 300 6th Ave. S.E. A small dog was losse in the apartment courtyard. A report will be sent to the Sleepy Eye City Attorney’s Office.
