Public invited to join BCHS Book Group

NEW ULM — Do you enjoy reading books about famous people, places, and events of the past? Would you enjoy discussing such books with similarly interested people? You can easily do this with the Brown County Historical Society (BCHS) Book Group.

The group meets in the museum annex the first Wednesday of each month. Dan Groebner is the facilitator of the Book Group. Participation is open to the public. One does not need to be a member to come to the meetings and share in the discussion. The regular participants select the books; from time to time, each person is asked for their recommendations, guaranteeing a wide range of historical topics.

It is easy to participate. No phone call or signup is needed. Just go to the checkout desk at the New Ulm Public Library and ask for a copy of the current BCHS Book Group book. Read the book. Come to the meeting at 7 pm on the first Wednesday of the month in the Annex at the Brown County Historical Society. Parking is behind the museum building near the entrance to the Annex. Come in and meet some history enthusiasts!

The next meeting of the BCHS Book Group is Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Museum Annex at 7 p.m. The book for the month is “Democracy in America” by Alexis de Tocqueville. The book for December 4 is “Spain in Our Hearts” by Adam Hockschild. If you have questions, please call 507-233-2620 or email: programs@browncountyhistorymn.org for more information.
