LESTER PRAIRIE — Cedar Mountain’s Blake Schueller passed 1,000 points for his career on Friday night as the Cougars took down Lester Prairie 86-75 on Friday night in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.

Schueller finished with 22 points, 14 rebounds and three assists.

Blake Steffl led the Cougars with 33 points, eight assists and four rebounds, while Zach Sandgren also had 13 points and six rebounds. Carson Schiller had 11 points and six rebounds.

Cedar Mountain is at Winthrop for another conference matchup Tuesday night.

GFW 64, Lakeview 59

WABASSO — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop held off Lakeview 64-59 on Saturday in a nonconference boys basketball invite game at Wabasso High School.

Carter Klages led the Thunderbirds with 21 points, while Cole Jacobson had 13 points. Easton Taylor added 11 points, while Owen Swenson had 9 points.

GFW hosts Cedar Mountain in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division game on Tuesday night.

MACCRAY 71

WABASSO — Behind five players in double figures, Wabasso downed MACCRAY 89-71 on Saturday in a nonconference boys basketball invite game at Wabasso High School.

Leading the balanced attack for the Rabbits was Tavyn Larson, who had 17 points, while Caden Frericks and Calvin Hanna each had 15 points. Brayden Guetter added 13 points for the Rabbits, while Joe Rohlik scored 12 points.

Wabasso is at Springfield for a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division game on Tuesday night.

GLENCOE — Glencoe-Silver Lake topped Sibley East 84-51 on Friday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.

Quintin DeVlaeminck led Sibley East with 17 points and five rebounds, while Riley Bussler added 12 points and Evan Pautsch had 8 points and three rebounds. Jack Feterl had seven rebounds and four assists also for the Wolverines.

Sibley East is at Norwood Young America on Tuesday night.

PREP GYMNASTICS

New Ulm takes 4th in East invite

MANKATO — The New Ulm gymnastics team took fourth out of six teams on Saturday at a Mankato East gymnastics invitational with a score of 129.275.

East won the invite with a 137.6.

Josie Sellner was New Ulm’s top overall gymnast at the meet with an all-around score of 33.4, good enough for seventh. She took fourth in the floor routine (9.3), ninth on the beam (8.3) and 11th on bars (7.65).

Avarey Sellner took seventh in the vault for New Ulm (8.575), while Alaina Blomberg took sixth on beam (8.45) and Sophia Berger took ninth in the floor routine (8.925) and 10th in the vault (8.55).

New Ulm has its home opener at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Cedar Mountain 67,

RRC 24

LAMBERTON — Aubrey Steffl’s triple-double led the Cedar Mountain Cougars to a big 67-24 win over Red Rock Central on Saturday night in a nonconference girls basketball game.

Steffl had 35 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals in the win, while teammate Brooklyn Diehn added 13 points and three rebounds. Also for Cedar Mountain, Marlie Wildt had 10 points, five rebounds and four steals.

Cedar Mountain hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division game on Tuesday night.

NUA takes 2nd at

Don Hall Invite

GLENCOE — The New Ulm Area wrestling team competed at the Don Hall Invitational on Saturday, taking second overall with 162 team points.

Watertown-Mayer/Mayer Lutheran won the invite out of 10 teams with a score of 190.

Kane Johnson led NUA by winning his bracket at 133 pounds with a 3-0 day. He had one fall and two decisions, defeating Watertown-Mayer/ML’s Sully Marx in the championships by a 10-4 decision.

NUA also saw multiple wrestlers take second place at their respective weight classes, starting with Chase Wilson at 107 pounds. Wilson went 2-1 with a fall on the day. At 139, NUA’s Elijah Rieser took second, going 2-1 wth a major decision, while Braxton Kiecker took second at 145 with a 2-1 day and one decision.

At 172, Wyatt Pollard took second with a 2-1 day that included a tech fall.

LAMBERTON — Wabasso won a pair of duals in a prep wrestling triangular at Red Rock Central on Friday, defeating RRC 58-15 and St. Clair/Mankato Loyola 53-10.

Heavyweight Josh Timm led Wabasso on the night with a pair of wins, one a pin over RRC’s Dawson Mariner in 1:12 and one a 8-3 decision over SC/ML’s Willard Spence. Lane Taylor also had a 10-0 major decision over RRC’s Marshal Willhite at 121 pounds and a pin over SL/ML’s Albino Almanza in 3:41.
