NEW ULM — The New Ulm Brewers maintained their undefeated season with a 11-0 win in seven innings over the Sleepy Eye Indians Monday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game at Johnson Park.

The game was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.

The Brewers racked up 17 hits during the game as its offense hit their stride. With the win, New Ulm improves to 11-0 in the TEL, a game and a half ahead of second-place Leavenworth.

“It’s always different people doing different things every game,” New Ulm starting lefty Adam Slander said. “We’re not just relying on one person. We got good pitching and good defense every game, and just timely hitting.”

Slander got the win on the mound, striking out three while allowing four hits and no walks in six innings.

“Not one batter got to three balls,” Slander said. “So it’s getting ahead, throwing strikes. Me and the catcher just on the same page the whole entire game.”

At the plate for New Ulm, Zach Hoffmann was 3 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored, while Colten Schaefer was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a triple. Trevor Nissen was 3 for 5 with two runs scored, and Ayden Jensen was 2 for 5 with two runs scored.

Blake Wales took the loss for Sleepy Eye, giving up 10 runs on 13 hits in four innings. At the plate, Wales, Luke Mielke, Matt Sellner and Owen Weiss picked up hits for the Indians.

The first five batters New Ulm sent to the plate came away with a hit in the game, with Andrew Peters scoring on a Hoffmann single. The Brewers plated four total in the inning and continued the damage in the third, scoring three in an inning highlighted by a two-RBI Schaefer triple. New Ulm added three more runs in the fourth to give them a 10-0 lead.

New Ulm added an insurance run in the sixth with Peters hitting an RBI single before the Brewers closed out the game with two innings of retiring the side.

New Ulm will host Essig on Wednesday before taking on third-place Courtland on Thursday. Both games will be at Johnson Park at 7:30 p.m.
