NEW ULM — The Big South Conference will soon be getting one team bigger as Tri-City United (TCU) will be leaving the Minnesota River Conference and be joining the Big South Conference in 2024-25.

That will bring the Big South Conference to 14 teams.

Also, the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) reclassified New Ulm High School in three sports for the 2024-25 seasons.

New Ulm High School baseball and softball will return to Class AAA and be back in Section 2.

Meanwhile, New Ulm High School football is now in Section 2, Class AAAA and will be in that section with Hutchinson, Marshall, St. Peter and Willmar.

That change also comes in the 2024-25 season.
