Helget named Tomahawk All-Conference VB POTY
The Tomahawk Conference released its 2022 Tomahawk All-Conference Volleyball Team on Friday, with New Ulm Cathedral senior middle hitter Sydnee Helget earning Player of the Year honors.
Helget, who was a repeat unanimous selection on the team, was joined by teammates Megan Haala and Jenna Hotovec, while Lily Brennan was named an Honorable Mention.
Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s saw Jaci Domeier and Bella Hoffmann make the team, while Allie Labat was named Honorable Mention, and Cedar Mountain had Hailey Hollar, Teresa Larsen and Nadia Meyers all make the team. Sleepy Eye had Brooke Arneson and Kadence Hesse make the team, while Breaunna Mertz was named Honorable Mention.
Wabasso’s Kelsey Frank was named to the team, while teammates Avery Carlson and Audrey Johnson were named Honorable Mention, and Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart’s Lily Hubin was named to the team, while teammate Kristi Kottke was Honorable Mention. Rounding out the team was Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s Brynn Busse and Springfield’s Brooklyn Sturm. GFW’s Taylor Haas and Minnesota Valley Lutheran’s Ava Munsen were also named Honorable Mention.
Cathedral head coach Becky Wilfahrt was named the Tomahawk Conference Coach of the Year.
St. Mary’s and Cathedral were Tomahawk Conference co-champions this season with 7-1 records in conference play.
