Ethan Schmidt, 9 years old of New Ulm, recently participated in two Minnesota Junior Golf Prep Tour Tournaments in the 10 to 12-year-old age group. On June 16 at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake, Schmidt took fourth out of 12 golfers, shooting a 44. On June 17 at Brookland Golf Park in Brooklyn Park, he finished 10th out of 30 golfers after shooting a 43.

On June 26 in Osceola, Wisconsin, Schmidt participated in his first U.S Kids golf tournament out of the Minneapolis local tour in the 9-year-old age group. Schmidt placed second, losing in a playoff hole to the league points leader Cade Kershaw out of Northfield, Minnesota. Schmidt shot a +1 (37) with two birdies on the day.
