MORGAN — Cedar Mountain held off New Ulm Cathedral in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game on Thursday.
For Cedar Mountain, Teresa Larsen had 15 points and Megan Sandgren had 13 points. Maddie Gilles led Cathedral with 15 points and Marge Finstad had 10 points.
Cedar Mountain (4-11, 2-7) is at Gibbonp-Fairfax-Winthrop on Friday and Cathedral (2-12, 0-11) hosts Wabasso on Tuesday.
St. Mary’s 78, GFW 37
SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s crushed Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball action on Thursday.
Madison Mathiowetz led the Knights with 37 points, 16 rebounds and four assists and Natalie Fischer scored 14 points. Elizabeth Schwint finished with 10 points and Reagan Severson had 7 points and seven rebounds.
Brynn Busse led the Thunderbirds 20 points and Olivia Schwarzrock had 11 points and six rebounds.
Sleepy Eye 64,
Springfield 56
SLEEPY EYE — Kadence Hesse scored 26 ponts, had seven rebounds and four steals as Sleepy Eye defeated Springfield in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game on Thursday.
Brea Mertz scored 20 points, had six rebounds and four assists. Brooklyn Moldan had six rebounds and six rebounds.
Sleepy Eye is at St. James on Monday and Springfield hosts GFW on Tuesday.
Nicollet 59, MLA 52
MOUNTAIN LAKE — Nicollet took care of Mountain Lake Area in a nonconference girls’ basketball game on Thursday.
Hayley Selby had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Marah Hulke had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Brooke Naas led MLA with 22 points.
Nicollet is at Springfield on Friday.
Boys’ basketball
St. Clair 83, Madelia 50
ST. CLAIR — St. Clair defeated Madelia in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game on Thursday.
JaSean Glover had 21 points and 10 rebounds for Madelia and Blake Altenburg finished with 13 points.
Madelia (3-4) hosts Spring Grove on Saturday.
Nicollet 58, Cleveland 51
NICOLLET — Nicollet held off Cleveland in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game on Thursday.
Conner Martens led Nicollet with 23 points and Grant Bruns finished with 12 points. Jeffery Volby and Cody Strunk each scored 8 points.
Nicollet (5-8) hosts Granada-Huntley-East Chain on Tuesday.

Sleepy Eye 56
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield defeated Sleepy Eye in a nonconference boys’ basketball game on Thursday.
Mason Sellner scored 27 points, including a school-record nine 3-pointers. Trey Heiderscheidt finished with 9 points and 16 rebounds and Erizen Traconis had 4 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Sleepy Eye hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday and Springfield is at GFW on Tuesday.
Sibley East 69,
GFW 59, OT
ARLINGTON — Sibley East defeated GFW in a nonconference boys’ basketball game on Thursday.
Brady Hentges led GFW with 21 points.
Mason Meyer had 15 points, Evan Brinkman had 14 points, and Joe Ballalatak had 12 points for Sibley East.
GFW is at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday.
