Prep football roundup: MVL tops Sleepy Eye with late TD pass

SLEEPY EYE — Colton Collum caught a late touchdown pass from Mason Cox to score the winning touchdown for Minnesota Valley Lutheran in Southwest District, East Subdistrict football action.

Cox had a total of 92 yards passing and 56 yards rushing.

Sleepy Eye was led by Juan Cortez, who had 114 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Sleepy Eye plays at 7 p.m. on Friday at Murray County Central. MVL hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Mt. Lake Area 72,

Madelia 6

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Mountain Lake Area defeated Madelia 72-6 on Friday in a South District, West Subdistrict football game.

Ethan Arndt led Madelia with 112 yards rushing and one touchdown.

Ja’Sean Glover had 13 tackles for Madelia.

Madelia (2-3) hosts Nicollet at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Nicollet 22, BLHS 14

HECTOR – Nicollet edged Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 22-14 on Friday night in 9-man South District, West Subdistrict football action.

Jon Mans threw for 113 yards and touchdown on 6-of-12 passing for Nicollet. He threw one interception, but also ran for 41 yards on 11 carries.

Avery Northquest powered his way for 222 rushing yards on 19 carries and a pair of scores and also had 14 total tackles to lead the Raiders’ defense. Riley Hulke caught three passes for 33 yards and a touchdown, and threw for a 2-point conversion pass to Drew Grommersch.

Also for Nicollet, Tyler Laven had 11 total tackles and Ben Radke had 10 total tackles.

BLHS was led by Zachary Rueber, who had 42 carries for 226 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Nicollet (4-1) is at Madelia Friday.
