16 suspicious wildfires
In the last two months, Brown County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Brown County fire departments have responded to 16 wildfires. Over the same time period in 2023, there was only one fire call. In 2022, two fire calls. The high number of fires has prompted the BCSO and Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to open an official investigation.
Wildfires are always bad news, but the possibility these fires are not all accidents makes it all the more worse.

The Minnesota’s Vikings draft picks
Thursday night was the start of the NFL Draft and The Journal’s sports department was excited with the Vikings early round draft picks. The Vikings were able to draft J.J. McCarthy, one of the younger quarterbacks available, and then traded to pick arguably the best pass rusher with Dallas Turner. The Vikings were able to fill two needed spots in the roster in the first round. It is an exciting start to the draft.
