New Ulm Police • Talked to Oak Hills Living Center staff at 1:46 p.m. Tuesday about a check written out in the amount of $4,892 to a Chicago man. The employee said the check number was altered and Oak Hills never wrote the check to the man. The check was discovered before it was cashed. A report is under investigation. • Responded to New Medical Center at 9:26 p.m. Tuesday to assist Allina Security with a combative patient, a 17-year-old Winthrop male. No injuries or damage were reported. The youth was returned to the emergency department. A report was done for documentation.

New Ulm Police • Stopped a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old New Ulm male for an equipment violation at Broadway and 1st St. North at 11:55 p.m. Friday. Police found nicotine vapes, a marijuana grinder with marijuana seeds and marijuana shake in the vehicle. A report went to the driver’s Brown County Probation officer. • Responded to Nova House at 1:18 a.m. Saturday regarding a 23-year-old Pequot Lakes woman on civil commitment who left the residence. New Ulm Police • Responded to a two-vehicle injury crash on icy road conditions at 8:25 a.m. Saturday at Broadway and 7th North. A 2024 Ford Explorer driven by Leigha Schugel, 20, New Ulm, was southbound on Broadway, attempted to stop for a red light, slid on ice and struck a 2005 Ford Explorer driven eastbound by Anthony Powell, 63, New Ulm as it entered the intersection with a green light. Damage was severe-disabling to both vehicles. A passenger in the Schugel vehicle had minor injuries.
