New Ulm Police

• Received a theft report of a $500 glucose reader at 12:22

p.m. Wednesday from a New Ulm woman who lives on South

Garden St. She reported the loss to Medicare. A report was

done for documentation.

• Received a scam/fraud report from a 59-year-old New

Ulm woman on Park Lane who sent $7,000 to greatx.morton.

lne.org on the What’s Up app. The woman said she was told

to pay the money for shipping costs before receiving a car,

$30,000, jewelry and a dress. When an agent wanted $7,399

in additional funds in $2,000 installments, the woman realized

it was a scam. A report was done for documentation.

• Received a theft report of a $75 wheelbarrow with new

handles and a wheel taken sometime in the last two months.

A report was done for documentation.

• Responded to a crash at the intersection of North Jefferson

and 8th North streets at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday. Lindsey Jo

Walls, 35, of 911 5th North St. was driving north on Jefferson

Street in a 2013 Acura MDX. Melanie Joy Kapphahn, 39, of

Maple Grove, was driving east on 8th North in a 2015 Infiniti

Q50. The vehicles collided in the intersection, causing

damage to the front passenger side of Kapphahn’s car and to

the front driver side of Walls’ car. No injuries were reported.

• Received a criminal damage to property report Nov. 12

at Hillside Apartments, 1513 N. Payne. A driver’s side door

was scratched and had pry marks. Entry was not gained. A

report was done for documentation.

Redwood County Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash at 6:38 a.m. Nov. 14

on CSAH 7, near 430th Street. Tyler R. Lundin, 18, Wood

Lake, was driving a pickup truck with snow on the road that

slid off the snowy road and into a ditch. After entering the

ditch. the truck went up some boulders, hitting a tree branch

and utility pole that broke and fell on top of the truck that

came to a rest in the southbound ditch. Lundin was transported

to a hospital for a suspected concussion. The truck

was owned by Amanda L. Hartson. Damage was estimated

at more than $1,000.

Sibley County Sheriff’s Office

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries reported

at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 12 at CR 9 and CR 15, four miles west

of Green Isle. John R. Thull, Excelsior, was driving a 2014

Subaru Outback westbound on CR 15 and hit a 2005 GMC

Envoy driven by Amy E. Laabs. She was transported to Ridgeview

Medical Center with substantial injuries. Both vehicles

were demolished. Amy Laabs and her son Kevin J.

Laabs, Arlington; and Thull all wore seat belts. Airbags deployed

in both vehicles. Assisting agencies were Arlington

Fire and Ambulance and the Green Isle Fire Dept.
