Brown County Sheriff

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle injury accident 7:11 p.m. Saturday at 420 Avenue and 150th St., Springfield, in Stately Township.

A 2004 Toyota Corolla driven by Joshua Michael Moldan, 16, was traveling westbound on 150th St. when it was struck on the drivers side door by a 2004 Ford pickup driven by Lucas William Vogel, 32, traveling northbound on 420th Ave, Stately Township, Springfield, Brown County.

The collision caused the Corolla to skid into the ditch and, upon entering the ditch, it rolled one half times. Moldan and a passenger, Parker William Gluth, were trapped in the vehicle before being assisted out by bystanders. Upon Vogel’s vehicle colliding with the Moldan vehicle, the air bags deployed and the vehicle skidded to a stop into the northbound ditch of 150th St.

Moldan and Gluth were transported by Springfield Ambulance to Sleepy Eye Hospital and then transported by air to North Memorial Hospital for severe head injuries. Lucas Vogel reported no injuries. Vogel’s passanger, Amber Leah Vogel, was transported by ambulance to Sleepy Eye Hospital for minor injuries and released the same day. All people involved in the accident were wearing seat belts, according to a follow up investigation.

Gluth and Moldan were in stable to fair condition at North Memorial as of 3 p.m. Sunday.
