New Ulm Police

• Received a theft report at 6:28 p.m. Friday of drum and edge sanders rented and not returned from Menards. Police and Menard’s made numerous attempts to contact the suspects, a 41-year-old Minneapolis man and 49-year-old Lucerne, Ca. Man. The loss including late fees for the two items is $10,028. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for felony theft charges.

• Stopped a vehicle for traveling in the wrong traffic lane at 20th St. South and Spring St. at 11:09 p.m. Friday. Impairment signs were detected from the driver, a 48-year-old Granada man. After failing field sobriety tests, the man was transported to the Brown County Jail. He was cited for fourth-degree DWI. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.

• Located a 38-year-old New Ulm man with a probable cause arrest order for a felony protection order violation walking in the Hy-Vee parking lot at 8:12 p.m. Saturday. The man was arrested and transported to Eagle Lake where he was picked up by Rochester Police. A report went to Rochester Police.

• Received an anonymous tip of an underage party at 12:06 a.m. Sunday on Mack Lane. Police located many individuals under age 21 consuming alcohol. Seven male and female juveniles from New Ulm and Sleepy Eye were cited for underage consumption. School notification letters were went to three area high schools. A report went to Brown County Probation.

• Took a report of a woman passed out behind the wheel at the Highway 14 and Garden St. traffic light at 10:16 a.m. Sunday. Police awakened the 65-year-old New Ulm woman who said she was tired and must have fallen asleep at the light. The complainant said the woman did not move through three traffic light cycles before police arrived. A driver’s evaluation form was completed and sent to the Minnesota Department of Motor Vehicles.
