NEW ULM — Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School’s speech team competed at the Mankato East Speech Fiesta on Saturday. Natalie Schumann and Claudia Weisensel took first place in novice duo interpretation with Joe Schroeder and Jacob Guenther taking fourth in varsity duo. Claire Woller placed third in novice extemporaneous reading while Lydia Meyer won third and Natalie Hennig earned first in varsity of the same category. Drew Hutchens took first in novice humorous, Josiah Guenther took sixth in varsity humorous, and Maggie Spike won second in poetry interpretation. The team placed 4th overall out of 20 schools.
