NEW ULM – The candidate filing period to appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot closed 5 p.m. Tuesday with no new candidates adding their names to local elections. In New Ulm, this mean Mayor Kathleen Backer and Ward 2 City Council Eric Warmka will run for re-election unopposed. Backer and Warmka were the only candidates to file for their respective offices before the filing deadline. New Ulm’s Ward 4 is also up for election in November.
