BOYS BASKETBALL

Cedar Mountain 75, GFW 55

MORGAN — Branndon Pendleton passed 1,000 career points for Cedar Mountain on Tuesday night as the Cougars downed Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 75-55 in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game.

Blake Steffl led the Cougars with 25 points, six steals and five assists, while Blake Schueller had 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Pendleton passed his milestone on his way to a 19-point, three-assist game.

No stats were reported for GFW.

Cedar Mountain (5-0, 3-0) travel to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday. GFW (2-3, 0-2) host Wabasso on Monday.

Cathedral 87, Wabasso 52

NEW ULM — New Ulm Cathedral rolled by Wabasso 87-52 in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game Tuesday.

Jake Finstad led the Greyhounds with 18 points and two steals, while Zach Gieseke had 16 points and four rebounds. Jevan Wilfahrt had 12 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals for Cathedral, while Elliot Hoffman had 12 points, 13 rebounds and three assists.

Tavyn Larson led Wabasso with 19 points, while Tristan Larson had 10 points.

Cathedral (3-2, 1-2) travels to Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday. Wabasso (2-1, 0-1) hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 60, St. Mary’s 45

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 60-45 Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game at Sleepy Eye High School.

Landon Wendinger led the Indians with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Eric Lozano had 16 points and five rebounds. Brayden Heiderscheidt added 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

No stats were reported for St. Mary’s.

Sleepy Eye (4-1, 2-0) host Wabasso on Friday. St. Mary’s (4-1, 1-1) travel to Wabasso on Thursday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

GFW 63, Cedar Mountain 59

WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop downed Cedar Mountain 63-59 Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Nicole Duehn had 18 points for the Thunderbirds, with Marti Jacobson adding 15 points. Jenna Schweiss had 10 points for GFW.

Aubrey Steffl led all scorers with 29 points, adding six rebounds and four assists for the Cougars. Kendra Erickson had 10 points and 9 rebounds for Cedar Mountain.

GFW (4-4, 2-1) travels to Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Monday. Cedar Mountain (2-4, 1-3) hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday.

GHEC/ML/T 67, Springfield 66

TRUMAN — Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman held off Springfield 67-66 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday at Truman High School.

Emma Hauger had 27 points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Tigers, while Brooklyn Sturm had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Marissa Pabst had 12 points, eight rebounds and six steals for Springfield, and Jada Reese had 8 points and three rebounds.

Springfield (2-3) travels to Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday.

Loyola 50, Nicollet 42

NICOLLET — Mankato Loyola defeated Nicollet 50-42 Tuesday in a Valley Conference girls basketball game.

The Raiders were paced by Leah Bode with 16 points and 17 rebounds.

Nicollet (1-4, 1-2) hosts United South Central on Thursday.

BLHS 90, MVL 37

NEW ULM — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart cruised by Minnesota Valley Lutheran 90-37 Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Rachel Kottke had 32 points for the Mustangs, while Lily Hubin had 20 points.

Mackenzie Merseth paced the Chargers with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Olivia Hammer had 6 points. Marley Schauer and Avery Hopp each had 4 points for MVL.

MVL (0-5, 0-3) hosts Madelia on Thursday.

BOYS HOCKEY

New Ulm 6, Waseca 1

WASECA — New Ulm defeated Waseca 6-1 in a Big South Conference boys hockey game Tuesday.

Kaden Larson, Ian Brudelie, Brody Wenner, Casey Koop, Austin Uecker and Brecken Neuman all scored for the Eagles. Larson had two assists, while Brudelie and Wenner each had an assist.

New Ulm (5-1) hosts Minnesota River on Thursday.

PREP WRESTLING

Wabasso goes 1-1in Windom Triangular

WINDOM — Wabasso defeated Windom-Mountain Lake 39-34 but fell to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 54-13 Tuesday in a Triangular at Windom Area High School.
