NEW ULM — New Ulm had three players score in double figures to lead the Eagles past Belle Plaine 77-42 on Thursday in a nonconference girls basketball game.

It was the season opener for the Eagles.

The Eagles used a full-court press and an up-tempo offense to build a solid lead. There were three ties (2-2, 8-8 and 12-12). New Ulm went on an 8-0 run after that.

Enter started the run with a 3. Lewis added a 3. Nesvold scored on a fast-break layup.

Late in the second half, the Eagles scored consecutive baskets. Dreckman passed the ball to Nesvold, who scored on a layup. Nesvold scored on the next trip down the court. She was fouled, but was unable to make the free throw.

As the contest was winding down, Nesvold scored an inside basket. Dreckman added a fast-break layup and Abigail Rathmann dropped in two free throws to complete the Eagles’ scoring.
