MANKATO — Marshall defeated Sleepy Eye Legion Post 7 by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday in a Division 1 Sub-State 2 Senior Legion Baseball Tournament elimination bracket game at Wolverton Field.

The loss ends Sleepy Eye’s season with a 5-8 record.

Nick Mielke pitched five innings in the loss and gave up three hits and five walks for two earned runs while striking out two. Brandon Schmitz pitched one inning in relief and struck out two while giving up one hit.

Jon Petermann drove in Sleepy Eye’s lone run of the game and was 1 for 1. Carson Domeier, Winsten Nienhaus, Jacob Lux and Jackson Huiras also each had a hit for Sleepy Eye.
