New Ulm clay target team turns in solid scores in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA — The New Ulm High School clay target team had a strong showing at the 2022 Trap Shooting Championship on June 21, finishing seventh overall out of 16 teams in the 9A Class.
The event took place at Alexandria Shooting Park, and New Ulm was represented by 58 total clay target shooters. The team left for Alexandria at 4:45 a.m. on June 21 and returned to New Ulm around 7:30 p.m. that night. There were two shifts the team shot in, with each shift lasting around three hours.
In the high gun novice male competition, Zach Oswald shot a 75 to finish 13th. The high gun novice female competition saw Addie Wieland turn in a 71 to take eighth, while Maddy Wellman and Lacey Sondag-Bode each shot a 66 to tie for 13th.
The high gun junior varsity male competition saw Tate Isaacson shoot an 85 to tie for 12th, while Kyle Jeske shot an 84 to tie for 17th. In the high gun junior varsity female competition, Courtney Brey shot a 79 to tie for sixth, while Lexi-Lyn Schneider shot a 73 to tie for 17th.
In the high gun varsity male competition, Wesley Grob turned in a 95 to tie for ninth, while Dylan Armstrong shot a 92 to tie for 18th. Cameron Carpenter and Tyler Sondag each shot a 91 to tie for 30th also in the high gun varsity male competition.

Carpenter, Grob, Isaacson and Andrew Meyer each had a perfect-round score of 25.
The novice squad ranked fourth overall at the event, while junior varsity took fifth and varsity took seventh.
