LE SUEUR — Braxten Hoffmann tallied his 150th career point on Tuesday as New Ulm downed Minnesota River 6-1 in Big South Conference boys’ hockey action.

Hoffmann led the Eagles with two goals and two assists, while Dawson Kraus also had two goals and two assists. Austin Eker added a goal and two assists for New Ulm, while Blake Soukup had a goal.

Bryer Hoffmann got the win in net for New Ulm with 15 saves.

New Ulm (11-4, 9-0) hosts New Prague at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Boys’ Basketball

Madelia 84, Nicollet 39

NICOLLET — Madelia cruised to an 84-39 victory over Nicollet on Tuesday night in a Valley Conference boys’ basketball game.

Madelia was led by Blake Altenburg’s 29 points, while Ja’Sean Glover had 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

Nicollet was led by Conner Martens’ 11 points, while Cody Strunk and Jeffrey Volby each had 7 points.

Madelia (3-3) is at St. Clair on Thursday, while Nicollet (4-8) hosts Cleveland on Thursday.

New Ulm 74,

Sibley East 28

ARLINGTON — New Ulm coasted to a 74-28 win over Sibley East on Tuesday in nonconference boys’ basketball action.

Charlie Osborne led the way for the Eagles with 22 points, while Colton Benson had 17 and Zander Fischer added 10.

Sibley East got 9 points from Mason Meyer.

New Ulm (9-4) hosts Fairmont on Friday.

Cedar Mountain 72, MVL 52

MORGAN — Cedar Mountain took down Minnesota Valley Lutheran 72-52 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

The Cougars were led by Branndon Pendleton’s 23 points, while Dakota Pendleton-Sam added 10 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Nick Freitag also had 10 points and five boards for Cedar Mountain, while Cooper Freitag had 8 points, 10 rebounds and five steals and Aaron Heidemann had 8 points.

MVL was led by Ben Pearson’s 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Cole Thompson had 8 points, nine rebounds and six assists, Kyle Flunker had 8 points and Will Kaesserman had 7 points and eight boards.

MVL (2-11, 2-7) hosts Wabasso on Friday night, while Cedar Mountain is at New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday.

Wabasso 79, GFW 54

WINTHROP — Wabasso topped Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 79-54 on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

The Rabbits were led by Isaac Kronback’s 27 points, while Sam Fenger had 23 points.

GFW was led by Brody Hentges, who had 23 points, Braylan Freitag added 9 points for GFW.

GFW (2-9, 1-7) is at Sibley East on Thursday, while Wabasso (8-5, 4-4) is at Minnesota Valley Lutheran non Friday night.

Cathedral 51, BLHS 43

HECTOR — New Ulm Cathedral downed Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 51-43 on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference boys’ basketball game.

Sam Knowles led the Greyhounds with 23 points, 20 rebounds, four assists, five blocks and three steals, while Jevan Wilfahrt had 8 points and six rebounds and David Wilfahrt added 7 points.

Girls’ Basketball

St. Mary’s 88, Springfield 52

SPRINGFIELD — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s rolled to an 88-52 win over Springfield on Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls’ basketball game.

Madison Mathiowetz led the way for the Knights with 30 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals, while Allie Labat had 16 points and two steals. Also for St. Mary’s, Reagan Severson had 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Liz Schwint had 12 points and seven boards and Natalie Fischer had 11 points.

Springfield was led by Brooklyn Sturm’s 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Megan Ploeger had 12 points and Madison Digmann had 11 points.

St. Mary’s (13-1, 8-0) is at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday, while Springfield (5-8, 3-5) is at Sleepy Eye on Thursday.

Nicollet 75, GHEC 71

NORTHROP — Nicollet held on for a 75-71 win over Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Tuesday in Valley Conference girls’ basketball action.

Nicollet was led by Hayley Selby’s 22 points and 19 rebounds, while Brooklyn bode had 14 points and six steals, Josi Hansen had 14 points and Marah Hulke had 13 points and five assists.

GHEC was led by Katelyn Diegnau’s 32 points.

Nicollet (7-7) is at Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Thursday.

Sleepy Eye 58, Redwood Valley 32

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye topped Redwood Valley 58-32 on Tuesday night in a nonconference girls’ basketball game.

Sleepy Eye was led by Brea Mertz’s 25 points, five steals and five rebounds, while Kadence Hesse had 24 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Sleepy Eye (13-2) hosts Springfield on Thursday.

Prep Wrestling

DW/LQP/M 62, Wabasso 12

WABASSO — Dawson-Boyd/Lac Qui Parle/Montevideo United downed Wabasso 62-12 on Tuesday in a prep wrestling dual.

Wabasso got wins from Kaysem Harms (106) and Chance Fischer (138). Harms pinned Grayson Olson in 1:45, while Fischer pinned Adrian Norman in 5:17.
