United Way backpack giveaway program
Volunteers and donations needed
School bells may seem a long way off, but United Way of Brown County, in partnership with Alliance Bank and the Koozie Group, is already working to secure donations for their annual backpack giveaway program.
Each year United Way of Brown County gives backpacks full of school supplies to families in Brown County who qualify for educational benefits. Last summer, over 640 backpacks were distributed across Brown County.
United Way is currently seeking donations of school supplies. Donation boxes are out in many area businesses. Monetary gifts can be made for the United Way Backpack Project by visiting the website at www.uwbrowncounty.org or by mail at P.O. Box 476, New Ulm, MN 56073.
The United Way is actively recruiting volunteers to assist with the program by collecting supplies, completing inventory, and packing backpacks. At least 50 individuals are needed who can dedicate their time to bringing this program to fruition. For more information, please contact the United Way office at 507-354-6512 or visit our website at www.uwbrowncounty.org sign up as a volunteer.
