• Franta was the hero in Saturday’s Section 2A playoff game against Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s when she delivered a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Greyhounds an 8-6 victory .

• Franta’s two-run home run against Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in Thursday’s 2-0 win helped her team move on to Saturday’s play.

Franta finished the week with a double, two home runs, six RBIs, three runs scored, a .333 batting average, a .455 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage as the Greyhounds improved to 21-2 on the year.

“Lauryn is a huge part of Cathedral’s postseason success,” Cathedral head coach Jamie Portner said. “She is seeing the ball well lately and has made some great defensive plays. Lauryn is a leader on our team, has been all season, and hopefully we are only beginning to see the results of her hard work.”
