ST. JAMES — St. James knocked off Springfield Legion Post 257 by a score of 7-2 on Friday night in the DII Senior Legion Southwest Sub-State Baseball Tournament elimination bracket finals.

Thomas Beers led Springfield at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a double, while Ely Streich had a triple and an RBI and Adiel Trevino had a hit and an RBI. Trevino took the loss in 6 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three walks for five runs while striking out five.

Max Westman was 2 for 5 with a triple to lead the St. James bats, while Wyatt Haler was 1 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and John Boelke was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Reggie Blom got the complete-game win, allowing five hits and three walks for two runs while striking out one.

St. James plays Sleepy Eye in an 11 a.m. finals game Saturday in St. James. St. James needs to win that game plus a second game approximately 1/2 hour after the first game in order to advance to the state tournament. Sleepy Eye needs just one win to make state.
