SPRINGFIELD 10, LAMBERTON 5

LAMBERTON — The Springfield Tigers defeated the Lamberton Long Sox 10-5 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Wednesday.

Noah Neperman got the win for Springfield, striking out seven and allowing four runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. At the plate, Ryan Sturm was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, while Neperman was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Jacob Poehler added two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Brady Bierl took the loss for the Long Sox, striking out three and allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits in 3 2/3 innings. At the plate, Jackson Jenniges was 3 for 5 with an RBI, while Hudsen Jenniges was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Lamberton scored the first run of the game in the second inning with Will Carlson drawing a walk with bases loaded. However, Jordan Milbrath got the strikeout to get out of the inning without further damage. The Tigers took the advantage with a four-run third inning, with Milbrath hitting a two-RBI triple, coming home on a wild pitch, then Tyler Hatch putting a ball into play to score another on an error. Lamberton got one run back on a single by Jackson Jenniges in the bottom of the inning, but Springfield made it a 5-2 game as Tyler Dick singled for an RBI in the fourth. The Tigers added another run in the fifth as Neperman singled to bring home Sturm, but the Long Sox cut the lead down to 6-4 in the bottom of the inning, with Hudsen Jenniges tripling to score Jack Hines, then coming home on a sacrifice fly by Jake Wahl. Springfield continued to score, however, adding one run in the sixth on a Hatch double and two more in the seventh, with MaCoy Krick and Poehler each earning gan RBI single. Kyle Krzmarzick put a fielder’s choice into play for an RBI to help Lamberton cut the lead to 9-5, but one final run by Springfield in the eighth — an RBI double by Neperman — closed out the game for the Tigers.

Springfield (10-6) hosts Windom in non-league play on Sunday, while Lamberton (9-6) hosts Courtland on Sunday.

NEW ULM 15, SEARLES 4 (7 INNINGS)

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Brewers rolled the Searles Grizzlies 14-4 in seven innings SPRINGFIELD 10, LAMBERTON 5

LAMBERTON — The Springfield Tigers topped the Lamberton Long Sox 10-5 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Wednesday.

Noel Davila got the win for the Brewers, allowing one unearned run on not hits in one innings. At the plate, Colton Schaefer was 3 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Tate Becker was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Sam Keckeisen had a hit and two RBIs, and Jace Schaefer had three RBIs.

Grant Bruns took the loss for Searles, striking out four and allowing eight runs, four earned, on seven hits in three innings. At the plate, Graham Glaser was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Tony Geiger had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

new Ulm (14-1) hosts Dundas on Friday in a non-league matchup, while Searles (5-10) hosts Sleepy Eye on Sunday.

HANSKA 6, ST. JAMES 3

HANSKA — The Hanska Lakers defeated the St. James Athletics 6-3 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Wednesday.

Colin Anderson got the win for Hanska, striking out three and allowing three runs on eight hits in seven innings. At the plate, Kevin Larson and Anderson were each 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Sam Knowles had two hits.

Bradsen Petersen took the loss for the A’s, striking out five and allowing six runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. At the plate, John Boelke was 4 for 4, while Chase Bottin had a hit and two RBIs.

Hanska (13-2) hosts Stark on Sunday, while St. James (3-12) plays at Fairfax on Sunday.

STARK 9, SLEEPY EYE 0

STARK — The Stark Longhorns defeated the Sleepy Eye Indians 9-0 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Wednesday.

Jon Kopacek earned the win for Stark, striking out three and allowing no runs on three hits in five innings. Adam Sellner pitched four innings in relief, striking out seven with one hit allowed. At the plate for the Longhorns, Sellner was 2 for 4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while David Surprenant had two doubles and two runs scored.

Marcus Martinez took the loss for Sleepy Eye, striking out two and allowing nine runs, five earned, on nine hits in six innings. At the plate, Tyler Mathiowetz was 2 for 4.

Stark (7-8) hosts Essig on Friday in an exhibition game.

COURTLAND 14, GIBBON 4 (7 INNINGS)

COURTLAND — The Courtland Cubs defeated the Gibbon Reds 14-4 in seven innings in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Wednesday.

Josh Giefer got the win for Courtland, striking out four and allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings. At the plate, Jackson Bode was 4 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Andrew Peters was 2 for 5 with two runs scored, while Maddox Mortenson and Giefer each had two hits.

Layton Hamre took the loss for Gibbon, striking out seven and allowing nine runs on 10 hits in five innings. At the plate, Nolan Huiras was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, while Josh Wasmund had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Courtland (13-2) hosts Gaylord on Friday in a non-league game, while Gibbon (6-9) hosts Leavenworth on Sunday.

THURSDAY

ESSIG 14, SLEEPY EYE 6 (7 INNINGS)

ESSIG — The Essig Bluejays defeated the Sleepy Eye Indians 14-6 in seven innings in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Thursday.

Jack Helget got the win for Essig, striking out one and allowing four runs on four hits in four innings. Caleb Forstner got the save, striking out two and allowing two runs on two hits in three innings. At the plate, Forstner was 2 for 3 with a home run, five RBI and two runs scored, while Jack Helget was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Winsten Nienhaus was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Kaleb Butenhoff took the loss for Sleepy Eye, allowing five earned runs on not hits and two walks in 1/3 of an inning. Damian Sanchez started the game, striking out three and allowing one run on four hits in three innings. At the plate, Tyler Mathiowetz had a hit and two rBIs, while Luke Mielke and Owen Weiss each had a hit and an RBI.

Essig (3-12) plays at Stark in non-league play on Friday, while Sleepy Eye (5-10) plays at Searles on Sunday.
