Another perspective on CRT

To the editor:

The acronym ‘CRT’ has been increasing in popularity and becoming a topic of interest in conversations. CRT stands for Critical Race Theory.

The group ‘We the People 507’ invites you to attend the presentation by Kendall Qualls called “The Fallacy of CRT” on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 6 p.m. at the New Ulm Event Center, 301 20th Street South, New Ulm. Doors open at 5:40 p.m. and presentation starts at 6 p.m.. Cost is $10 per person which offsets the cost of venue rental and speaker fee. Please register online at Eventbrite – https://wtp507qualls.eventbrite.com

This event is open to the public. If you do attend, I ask that you don’t blindly trust what is presented. Take the information given and do your own homework to verify what was said while paying attention to what is happening in the community and the local school boards.

Back in June of this year, the New Ulm Human Rights Commission brought in Dr. Andy Johnson from Minnesota State Mankato to present “Critical Race Theory; What it is, and what it isn’t.” I am unsure if that presentation was recorded, but he has a similar presentation on YouTube. You can search for “Critical Race Theory Discrit” by Dr. Andy Johnson on YouTube. It is an 11 minute, 42 second video.

Qualls appeared in a recent interview on a Rochester newscast discussing CRT. You can find this video on YouTube by searching “MN Education & CRT.” It is 6 minutes and 13 seconds long. You can also find more information on his company website at www.takechargemn.com.

Regardless of your views on this topic, we ask that all those in attendance be respectful in their actions and comments. It is OK to disagree as long as it is done in a polite manner. Any violence or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
