New Ulm Police

• Responded to a complaint of a vehicle traveling at inconsistent speeds at at Highway 14 and Nicollet CR 37 at 9:34 p.m. Monday. Police saw suspicious driving conduct and stopped the vehicle. A driver, a 52-year-old Sleepy Eye woman, showed impairment signs. A search warrant and blood sample were obtained. The woman was arrested for DWI, transported to the New Ulm Medical Center, then the Brown county Jail. A report with blood results will be sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for consideration of DWI, driving after revocation and open cannabis package in a motor vehicle. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.

• Responded to a report at 2:33 p.m. Monday of a female sitting on a park bench near 3rd North and Minnesota yelling at walkers and people in passing vehicle. Police talked with a 56-year-old New Ulm woman who appeared to be suffering a mental health crisis. Police had numerous contacts with the woman recently. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.

• Arrested a 30-year-old New Ulm man at 9:01 a.m. Monday at Brown County Probation on an apprehension and detention order. The man was transported to the Brown County Jail. A report was sent to Brown County Probation.

• Responded to a call at 12:42 p.m. Sunday for a nine-year-old New Ulm girl suffering from mental health issues. Allina Ambulance transported the girl to New Ulm Medical Center. A report was sent to Brown County Human Services.

• Police on patrol noticed a vehicle on fire in the Linderhof Apartments parking lot at 4:20 a.m. a.m. Sunday. The fire was extinguished. No video footage or witness statements with pertinent information were obtained. A report was sent to the New Ulm Fire Dept. for investigation.

• Responded to a theft report at Walmart at 6:22 p.m. Saturday. Police met a 60-year-old Hanska woman who admitted not self-scanning $204.68 worth of merchandise. She was cited for theft. A report was done for documentation.

• Responded to a theft report at Walmart at 4:10 p.m. Friday. Officers learned a 50-year-old Butterfield women and 40-year-old Butterfield man did not scan $102.29 worth of items on a self-scanning register. Both people were cited for theft. A report was done for documentation.

• Stopped a vehicle at 3:35 p.m. Friday at 7th North and Broadway for a woman holding her cell phone, looking down at it. A 45-year-old Bird Island woman was cited for operating a wireless communication device. The passenger, a 41-year-old Bird Island man, was cited for open cannabis package in a motor vehicle. A report was sent to Department of Corrections Probation.
