New Ulm Police

• Responded to a driving complaint of a vehicle entering New Ulm on CR 13 at 3:59 p.m. Feb. 2. The vehicle was located and stopped. Driver impairment signs were detected. A 70-year-old New Ulm man was arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report for 4th-degree DWI charges was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.

• Responded to a burglary report on the 100 block of Valley Street South at 3:47 p.m. Feb. 3. An individual said a Predator 3500 generator valued at $899.99 was stolen from his garage. A suspect was seen on video surveillance. A 61-year-old New Ulm man was recognized by the victim who said he did not want to pursue charges if he got the generator back in the same condition. Officers and the victim met with the suspect and removed the generator from his residence. A report was done for documentation.

• Received a cemetery vandalism report at 2:25 p.m. Feb. 5. A City Cemetery stone was pushed off its base and tablet was damaged. A Catholic Cemetery stone was knocked over. The vandalism was said to have likely happened last weekend. Damage was estimated at $100 in each cemetery. A report was done for documentation.

• Received a scam/fraud report at 10:43 a.m. Feb. 5. A 32-year-old New Ulm woman provided her debit card information and paid $485 to whom she thought was an attorney representing her bank over the phone. The woman cancelled her debit card. A report was done for documentation.

• Responded to a two-vehicle crash at 20th Street N. and Broadway at 4:33 p.m. Feb. 4. A 2011 Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Thomas John Kuck, 78, New Ulm, was northbound on Broadway when he collided with a 2011 Chrysler 200 driven by James Lawrence Wentzlaff, 34, New Ulm, who was westbound stopped at the 20th North stop sign, thought traffic was clear, proceeded and hit the passenger side of the minivan. No injuries were reported. Both drivers wore seat belts. Damage was severe to the rear passenger side of the minivan and severe to the front of the Chrysler 200.

• Responded to a juvenile trouble call at Riverbend Alternative Learning Center, 1315 S. Broadway at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 6. A 12-year-old Arlington boy was transported to New Ulm Medical Center for a behavioral health evaluation. A report was sent to Sibley County Human Services.

Minnesota State Patrol

• Responded to a one-vehicle crash with non-life threatening injuries on TH 22 near 243rd Street, Lime Township, Blue Earth County at 5:54 p.m. Feb. 5. Justine Elise Anderson, 23, New Ulm, was driving a 2002 Ford Escape northbound on TH 22, left the road and hit a tree. She was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato. She wore a seat belt. Alcohol was not involved. The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, Mayo Ambulance and Kasota Fire Dept. assisted.
