New Ulm Police
•Received a two-vehicle crash report without injuries at 3rd North and Front at 10:05 a.m. Dec. 9. Ethan Richter, 18, New Ulm, was driving a 2014 Ford northbound on Front St., waiting to turn left onto 3rd North when he was rear-ended by Levi Baumgard, 16, Lafayette, driving a 2002 Ford who was northbound on Front. Damage was moderate to the rear end of the 2014 Ford and minor to the front end of the 2002 Ford. Both drivers wore seat belts.
•Dispatched to Nova House, 1310S. German at 3:10 p.m. Dec. 9 for a 40-year-old New Ulm female client who was inhaling from an aerosol can. Police returned an hour later after the suspect locked herself in a bathroom. She was arrested and transported to New Ulm Medical Center for a mental health evaluation and taken to the Brown County Jail on a probation violation.
•Responded to a suspicious activity call at 1st St. S. and German St. regarding a 41-year-old New Ulm man. Police smelled marijuana. The man admitted to possessing drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. A report was done for documentation.
•Responded to a call about needleswith blood and methamphetamine at 330 N. Front at 10:41 a.m. Dec. 10. The suspect, a 56-year-old New Ulm woman, was said to be trespassing at her former residence. The needles were disposed of. A report was done for documentation.
•Received a scam/fraud report at12:19 p.m. Dec. 10 from a 41-year-old New Ulm man who said he got a Chase credit card in the mail with his name on it that he did not apply for. A report was done for documentation.
•Responded to a Harassment Restraining Order report violation at 3:40 p.m. Dec. 10 on a 32-year-old New Ulm woman. The alleged victim is a 23-year-old New Ulm woman. A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.
•Arrested a 33-year-old New Ulmman at 9:41 p.m. Dec. 10 on a probation arrest and detain order. A report was sent to probation and for documentation.
•Responded to a domestic call at 11p.m. Dec. 10 on 3rd St. N. A 36-year-old New Ulm man said a 43-year-old New Ulm woman tried to spray him in the face with spray paint. He said she earlier damaged his motorcycle. A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office and CADA (Committee Against Domestic Abuse).
Springfield Police
•Received a theft report at 3:40p.m. Dec. 9 from Andy’s Body Shop, 421 Rock St. W. Police said the business owner said vehicle parts including radiators and other items with copper and aluminum valued at about $70 were taken but since vehicle parts were involved with crashes and insurance companies, the parts are worth about $1,500 to the business owner. Police are investigating the report.
Brown County Sheriff’s Office
•Received a disturbance report inrural Sleepy Eye involving a mother and 17-year-old daughter at 4:02 p.m. Dec. 9. The daughter was transported to Prairie Lakes Juvenile Detention Center, Willmar. A report with charges of 5th-degree assault, disorderly conduct and theft charges on the daughter was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for review.
•Received a domestic call at 11:31a.m. Dec. 10 at 101 Broadway, Hanska. The 22-year-old Hanska woman received medical attention at New Ulm Medical Center and temporary housing. A 39-year-old New Ulm man was arrested for domestic assault. A report was sent to the Brown County Attorney’s Office.
Nicollet County
Sheriff’s Office
•Deputies responded to a road rage-type incident on U.S. Highway 14 in Nicollet County Dec. 8 after getting a report of a black Cadillac driving erratically. It was reported that the driver “flashed” a handgun at another vehicle as it passed. The reporter of the incident followed the Cadillac and gave Nicollet County dispatch accurate information on the vehicle and its location. The Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies and New Ulm Police helped locate and identify the suspect driver. Identification of the suspect won’t be released until formal charges are filed.
Minnesota State Patrol
•Received a two-vehicle crashreport at 7:19 a.m. Dec. 12 on State Highway 7 and School Road, Hutchinson, McLeod County. Scott C. Jaster, 41, Hector, was driving a 1993 Chevy GMT 400 eastbound on Highway 7 and collided with a 16-year-old male driving a 2014 Ford Focus westbound on Highway 7. Both drivers wore a seat belt. Jaster was transported to a Hutchinson hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was not involved.
