New Ulm Police
• Responded to a landlord-tenant dispute at 1016 3rd St. N. at 5:17 pm. Nov. 24. The landlord, a 40-year-old Nicollet resident said someone inside the residence fired an Airsoft gun at the landlord and landlord’s vehicle. The tenant is a 43-year-old New Ulm resident. A report was sent to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office for review.
• Responded to a vandalism report at B & J Laundromat, 506 Center at 11:10 a.m. Nov. 23. According to video, three juveniles broke a dryer door. Four juveniles later showed up at the laundromat. All were issued trespass notices. Suspects include a 15, 13 and 12-year-old New Ulm females, a 14-year-old Lafayette male, and a 14-year-old New Ulm transgender individual. A report was done for documentation.
• Midwest Bank, 525 Center reported at 11:10 a.m. Nov. 23 that a 39-year-old Minneapolis man tried to cash a $4,800 check but was unsuccessful. The bank said the suspect earlier cashed $6,454.44 worth of checks in Windom, Fairmont and Jackson. A report was sent to investigators.
• Arrested and transported to jail a 23-year-old New Ulm man on four Brown County warrants at 626 Minnesota St. S. at 2:04 p.m. Nov. 24.
Minnesota State Patrol
• Responded to a one-vehicle crash at 8:27 p.m. Nov. 23 on U.S. Highway 14 at 280th Avenue, Prairieville Township, Brown County. James E. Schmaedeke, 71, Brookings, S.D. was driving a 2005 Ford 500 eastbound on Highway 14, lost control, rolled and stopped in the ditch. He wore a seat belt and was transported to New Ulm Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Airbags did not deploy. Alcohol was not involved. Sleepy Eye Police and Ambulance and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
