Master Gardeners hosting horticulture primer, education event

The Brown County Master Gardeners will be hosting an educational event at the entertainment building on the Brown County Fair Grounds from 9 am to 11 am, Saturday, May 18. The event is free and open to the public with no pre-registration is required.

Master Gardeners have received their gardening education from the University of Minnesota. They enjoy gardening, but certainly do not know all the answers to gardening questions. They do, however, have the ability to find answers from the University of Minnesota.

Topics covered will be dealing with heat and stress on plants; tips for exhibiting flowers and vegetables at the fair; growing tomatoes; companion planting; reading the information on the back of seed packets; and information about trees recommended for the area. Free handouts will be available.

Brown County Master Gardeners encourage everyone to grow gardens and exhibit in the Horticulture Division of the Brown County Fair August 7 – 11, 2024.
