Early Childhood Screening

NEW ULM — Early Childhood Screening is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Screening is available to any child who is between the ages of 3 years and kindergarten. During screening children will participate in an evaluation of speech, language, fine and gross motor skills, behavioral, social and emotional development, hearing and vision, height and weight measurement, immunization records, and a parental question and answer period.

Screening is free of charge and is required for entrance into Eagle’s Preschool, Headstart, and Kindergarten. Early Childhood Screening will be held at the Washington Learning Center, 910 14th Street North. Appointments will be 90 minutes long, and we are unable to accommodate walk-ins. To make an appointment for your child please contact the ECFE Office at 507-233-8311.

Popcorn Wagon open is Saturday

NEW ULM — The last chance to purchase popcorn in 2019 from the Brown County Historical Society’s vintage popcorn wagon is Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Enjoy a bag of freshly popped popcorn from the popcorn wagon located in front of the Brown County History Museum at 2 North Broadway, New Ulm.

A part of local history since 1914, the wagon was purchased by the Brown County Historical Society in 2002 and restored to its original appearance. It is now operated by a team of dedicated volunteers with all proceeds from the sales benefitting the mission and programs of the BCHS.

Pulled Pork lunch at Cambria Presbyterian on Saturday

CAMBRIA — A Pulled pork and pumpkin luncheon at Cambria Presbyterian Church, 123 Ash st. At Cambria, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. A Bake sale and raffle included. Adults $11 Students $6 . Kids 5 and under free.

St. Mary’s Breakfast Bazaar

NEW ULM — St. Mary’s Council #161 is holding a breakfast bazaar on Sunday, Oct. 27, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church social hall in New Ulm.

Menu includes scrambled eggs, ham, cheesy potatoes, german potato salad, BBQs, rolls, fruit, coffee and milk.

The cost is $8 for adults.

A bake sale will be held, along with a craft sale including rugs, quilts, crafts and a white elephant sale.

All proceeds are donated to religious education. Catholic United Financial will provide matching funds up to $1,000.

Courtland Lions Fall Brunch

COURTLAND — The Courtland Lions Club will hold its annual Fall Pancake, Egg and Sausage Brunch on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Courtland Community Center.

Enjoy pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, applesauce, coffee, juice or milk. Free will donations will be accepted. Takeouts available.

Bring an item for the food shelf. Bring used eyeglasses and hearing aids for recycling.

A portion of the profist will go to the Community Flag Fund, the New Ulm Emergency Food Shelf and other local outreach programs.

Brown County Parks Department meeting

NEW ULM — The next Brown County Park Commission Meeting will be held at Brown County Courthouse Second Floor Commissioners Room #204 on Monday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
