Staff photo by Clay Schuldt A crew of house movers slowly and carefully moved a house from 2nd South and Payne Street to 9th South Street on Thursday.

NEW ULM — Thursday morning a special home delivery was made to 9th South Street from 2nd South and Payne.

Goldschmidt House Movers of St. James spent the morning gently moving a house on Payne Street to its new location on the cul-de-sac at 9th South Street. The house was first moved by truck trailer from its original location near St. Paul’s school to Center Street, then east to Washington Street. The house next traveled nine blocks down south on Washington until reaching 9th South.

The size of the house prevented traffic from passing by the house. New Ulm Police escorted the house to its location.

A Carr’s Tree Service bucket truck followed the house to cut away tree branches that obstructed transportation. The home reached it’s location around 11 a.m. Construction crews were preparing the home’s new foundation through the afternoon.
