Renew our faith for another 250 years

To the editor

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of this wonderful country, let us reflect on the blessings of the good Lords gift to live in the United States of America. Too much has been left out about the faith of our leaders. This Country has been blessed with leadership and thoughtful individuals that since the beginning believed that “all men are created equal”. Over the years, men and women have fought and defended this Country to keep us free. Let us teach our future generations of the faith in the good Lord that has helped this nation through the bumps and bruises of wars that kept us free. No other country gives the freedom that we have here to grow and prosper with hard work and results in the satisfaction of a job well done.

My Father came to America in 1922 as an 11-year-old-boy. To him it was a great blessing. He came from West Prussia in Germany to be an American. He learned the English language in four months. He studied hard, reading and learning American history and what makes this country great and free and the goodness of those that came before us. The blessings of religious freedom were important to him and my parents have instilled that into my being.

our nation needs to renew its faith. As John Adams wrote, “Our Constitution was written for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

If America is to last for another 250 years, we must return to the moral and spiritual foundation that made this wonderful nation successful to begin with. Return to your churches to have a renewal in faith that has kept this “United States of America Free.” And also, help others to renew their faith. This mission belongs to us. My wife and I have been blessed to live a long life here in southern Minnesota and to enjoy the families and friends that surround us. We could not ask for more.

God bless America for another 250 years.
