COMFREY — The Comfrey Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter completed virtual state competition last week. On Saturday, some gathered at the school to view the awards session. Comfrey advanced their four senior members to nationals. Their advisor, Donna Krueger, calls them the “Super Seniors.”

Allison Jensen for the second year was State Champion in Legal Office Procedures. Dylan Haugen placed third in Integrated Office Applications. Mason Brown placed fifth in Database Applications and was a finalist in Advanced Spreadsheet Applications, placing sixth. Megan Jensen placed fifth in Fundamental Desktop Publishing. Jenna Thom was a finalist in Fundamental Word Processing, placing eighth. Jensen, Haugen, Brown and Jensen advance to nationals.

Nationals was to be hosted by Orlando, Florida, but with the pandemic, it will be held virtually April 26-May 9. The members are a bit disappointed, but they are excited to be able to complete. Allison Jensen and Dylan Haugen advanced to nationals last year hoping to head to Washington D.C. for the completion, but that is when everything got shut down and their trip to nationals ended.

Allison Jensen and Megan Jensen will also compete at the post-secondary division of national BPA. They both are taking PSEO classes through Alexandria Technical and Community College. Allison will compete in Legal Office Procedures, Integrated Office Applications, Advanced Office Systems and Procedures, Business Meeting Management Concepts, and Digital Communications and Design Concepts. Megan be compete in Advanced Word Processing, Advanced Office Systems and Procedures, Business Law and Ethics, and Management, Marketing and Human Resources.
