WABASSO — Sleepy Eye downed Wabasso 3-1 in a Tomahawk Division baseball game on Thursday.
Karter Haala was the winning pitcher for the Indians, striking out six while allowing one run on five hits. At the plate, Kayden Klein was 2 for 4 with an RBI, while Carson Uecker had a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Brooks Baune was the losing pitcher for Wabasso, striking out one and allowing three runs on four hits in three innings. At the plate, Christian Ricketts was 2 for 3, while Drew Kemp had a hit and a run scored.
Sleepy Eye (12-1, 9-1) hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Monday, while Wabasso (2-9. 1-8) plays at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Monday.

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s swept Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 11-1 in five innings and 10-2 in a Tomahawk Division baseball doubleheader on Thursday.
Landry Folkens got the win for St. Mary’s in Game 1, striking out nine while allowing one run on four hits in five innings. At the plate, Tyler Mathiowetz was 3 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored, while Michael Balko was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Merrick Mathiowetz had a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Folkens had a hit and two RBIs.
Mason Mathiowetz earned the win in Game 2, striking out seven while allowing one run on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. At the plate, Merrick Mathiowetz was 2 for 4 with four RBIs, while Adam Braulick was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Tyler Mathiowetz was 2 for 2 with three runs scored.
St. Mary’s (7-6, 7-4) hosts Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday.

FAIRFAX — Springfield topped Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 7-6 in a Tomahawk Division baseball game on Thursday.
Adiel Trevino earned the win for Springfield, striking out two while allowing one run on one hit in 1 2/3 innings. Eli Streich made the start, striking out three and allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits in two innings. At the plate, Madden Lendt was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Trevino had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Aiden Moriarty had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored.
Owen Swenson took the loss for GFW, striking out one and allowing three runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings. Kaiden Rieke made the start, striking out four and allowing four runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. At the plate, Swenson was 3 for 4 with a run scored, while Cayson Gosewisch was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Luke Bastian and Koufax Rose each had a hit and two RBIs.
Springfield (11-0, 10-0) plays Redwood Valley at Irish Field in Milroy on Saturday, while GFW (3-7, 3-6) hosts Wabasso on Monday.

MADELIA — Madelia defeated Clevealand 5-1 in a Valley Division baseball game on Thursday.
Tony Zaleski earned the win for the Blackhawks, striking out 11 while allowing one run on three hits in six innings. At the plate, Zaleski was 2 for 4 with a run scored, while Tate Becker had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Madelia (13-0, 5-0) plays Luverne at Yankee Field in Milroy on Saturday.

WABASSO — Wabasso defeated Sleepy Eye 4-2 in a Tomahawk Division softball game on Thursday.
Aylah Jenniges earned the win for Wabasso, striking out five while allowing two runs on five hits in a complete game. At the plate, Jenniges was 2 for 2 with a triple, a home run and three RBIs, while Kayleigha Johnson was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
Taylor Berkner took the loss for Sleepy Eye, striking out two while allowing four runs on six hits in six innings. At the plate, Berkner was 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Callie Evers was 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Wabasso (10-4, 7-4) hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Monday, while Sleepy Eye (10-4, 7-2) plays at New Ulm Cathedral on Monday.

FAIRFAX — Springfield topped Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 13-7 in a Tomahawk Division softball game on Thursday.
Faye Williams earned the complete-game win for the Tigers, striking out 10 while allowing seven runs on 12 hits. At the plate, Kendall Krueger was 3 for 3 with an RBI, while Isabella Groebner was 2 for 3 with three runs scored. Makay Winkelmann and Abby Dove each had a hit and two RBIs.
Ellison Fitzpatrick took the loss for GFW, striking out three while allowing nine runs on eight hits in six innings. At the plate, Ella Nachreiener was 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs, while Lauren Schaefer was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Ellie Weber had two hits, two RBIs and a runs cored, Kenadee Fitzpatrick had two hits and two RBIs, and Mady Hartmann had two hits.
Springfield (8-4, 7-2) plays in a tournament at Caswell Park in Saturday, while GFW (2-8, 2-8) play Sibley East in Gaylord on Friday.
NICOLLET 6, MADELIA 5
NICOLLET — Nicollet edged by Madelia 6-5 in a Valley Division softball game on Thursday.
Brielle Osborne earned the win for Nicollet, striking out eight while allowing five runs on eight hits in a complete game. At the plate, Taylor Wilking was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, while Aubrey Hulke had a home run and two RBIs. Lydia Martens added a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Emily Jacobs took the loss for Madelia, allowing six runs on five hits with eight strikeouts. At the plate, Emmy Johnson was 3 for 4 with two runs scored, while Makayla Sorenson had a triple and three RBIs.
Nicollet (10-5, 3-3) hosts Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Friday, while Madelia (4-11, 2-5) hosts Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Monday.

MVL COMPETES IN CONFERENCE MEET
Minnesota Valley Lutheran completed the second South Central Conference golf meet on Wednesday, with the boys placing fourth at Terrace View Golf Club and the girls placing fourth at Mayflower Country Club.
In the boys meet, St. Clair won with a score of 325, followed by Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial (328), Le Sueur-Henderson (352), MVL (373) and Maple River (399). St. Clair’s Sam Freitag was the medalist on the boys side (78), followed by LCWM’s Charlie Gengler (79) and St. Clair’s JJ Cumberland (80). MVL was led by Phillip Lukasek (92) and Jacksen Gerdts (93), who placed 17th and 18th, respectively.
St. Clair also won the girls meet with a 413, followed by LSH (414), Maple River (465) and MVL (478). LCWM was incomplete. Rebecca Walters of Maple River placed first for the girls individually, shooting an 85. She was followed by LSH’s Addison Fahey (90) and St. Clair’s Celia Johnson (91). Eden Grubbs placed eighth for MVL with a 112, while MVL’s Scarlet Heldt and Annika Lowrey tied for 13th with a 121.
