17 new cases in last three days
BROWN COUNTY — Brown County Public Health confirmed 17 new COVID-19 cases in the last three days.
There were six new cases confirmed Friday, six new cases confirmed on Thursday and five new cases confirmed Wednesday, according to COVID-19 situation updates posted on Facebook.
The new cases give Brown County 166 confirmed cases. The new cases were for people in their 20s and 50s who are recovering at home.
Over the past week, the number of cases jumped from 141 on Friday, Sept. 11, to 166 on Friday.
There have been nine people hospitalized for COVID-19 since the pandemic began, there are 24 active cases in isolation, 140 total recovered cases and two COVID-19 related deaths total as of Friday.
New confirmed cases on Thursday involved people in their teens, 20s, 30s and 50s. All cases were recovering at home, according to the public health update.
New cases confirmed Wednesday were of people in their 20s, 40s, 50s and under age 10. All of those cases were recovering at home.
“It’s nothing we’re surprised about,” said Brown County Public Health Supervisor Jaime Brand.
“Through our investigations, we hear about people attending large gatherings all over like weddings, receptions and funerals,” Brand said. “There is more outstate travel now, usually in vehicles. It’s tougher to trace them.”
Brand said many people with new, confirmed cases attended private social gatherings at people’s homes or other places.
“People need to follow the protective recommendations,” Brand said. “Wear masks, keep at least 6 feet social distance and wash hands very thoroughly before and after attending large gatherings.”
