The Recreation Center is open for walking, open gym, racquetball, pickleball, fitness equipment (Must be at least 15) and fitness classes. Participants must be at least 10 years of age or be with a parent. Maintain 6-foot physical distance as much as possible. Walk-ins, memberships and punch cards are all options for payment. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone entering should perform a self-health screen posted on entrances and not enter if answering yes to any of the questions. Masks are required, but may be removed when exercising or playing. Please note some areas are not staffed or disinfected. Use at your own risk. Open Pickleball at the Rec Center is Monday through Friday 1 to 2:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9 to 10:30 a.m. You must provide your own equipment. Indoor pickleballs are available for purchase.

The Community Center is closed to the general public, but available for private rentals with conditions.

Meals on Wheels and takeout meals are operating. Call 359-2243 for delivery or reserve a meal for pick up.

Free, Healthy Meals Available to anyone in need of nutrition can receive up to five meals, plus snacks for you or others in your household (families, kids, single adults and elders). These free meals are provided by Lutheran Social Services (LSS) through a COVID-19 relief grant from the Minnesota Department of Education and may be picked at the Community Center, 600 N. German Street lower level parking lot on a first come, first serve basis Thursday, Nov. 19 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. or until the meals run out. This is a drive through event. No eligibility or registration required.

The Civic Center is open for private rentals, open skate, figure skating, hockey and Rock on Ice (pre-registration is now required at newulmmn.gov Times may vary this season due to capacity limitations.) They also must have a membership or punch card or be willing to sign in with name and phone number.

German Park Amphitheater Phase 1, the base structure is complete. Thank you to all past donors! Phase 2, the shade structure, along the top will be funded by the State of Minnesota through the 2020 bonding bill and completed in 2021. Fundraising continues for Phase 3, stage area improvements. Memorial/Gift Giving Ideas: Purchase one or more paver stone(s) with your inscription(s), in the walkways near Hermann Monument and/or German Park for $200 each, contact the Park & Rec office at 359-8344. Park or trail benches range in price from $1,500 to $3,500 each, call 359-8344.
