Unearth a Story
Off the Shelf
New Ulm Public Library’s summer reading program, “Unearth a Story,” begins on Monday, June 8 and runs through Sunday, August 2. The summer reading program is open to children and teens; ages birth to those entering their high school senior year.
Children up to the age of eleven can pick up a reading log in the children’s room and read at least 20 minutes a day for six days of the week to fulfill the reading goal. Each week they can stop by the children’s desk with their logs to check in, get a stamp, and receive a small prize. If you need to pick up your reading log before the program starts, they will be available on Monday, June 1. Just remember the program starts on the 8th and that is when you begin recording your reading.
Teens 12 to 17 and 18 years olds entering their senior year of high school in the fall of 2026 may pick up their logs at the service desk. Teens need to read at least 30 minutes each day for at least 6 days of the week to meet their reading goal. They will record their reading each week and can turn their logs in at the end of the program to receive their prize package; there is no need to check in each week.
