Courtland Cubs earn additional state honors

The Courtland Cubs, who finished in the final eight teams at the Class C Minnesota State Amateur Baseball Tournament, earned additional honors and recognition following the tournament.

Cubs pitcher/shortstop Jackson Bode was selected to the All-Tournament Team. Bode pitched four innings in the first round of the tourney against Richmond, giving up one run while striking out seven and adding a hit at the plate. He then pitched six innings of three-hit, no-run, six-strikeout ball against Isanti in the second round while going 4 for 6 with an RBI at the plate. Bode pitched a complete-game shutout with four strikeouts while adding a hit at the plate against Red Wing before going 2 for 4 at the plate against Buffalo in a state quarterfinals game.

The Cubs also earned the J.M. Brennan Sportsmanship Award, which was first donated by the St. Paul Baseball Club in 1941 and given to the team who showed great sportsmanship during the state tournament.
