New Ulm 6, Farmington 1

NEW PRAGUE — New Ulm downed Farmington 6-1 on Monday in a prep tennis meet.

The event was scheduled as a triangular but the Eagles were unable to finish their meet with New Prague.

New Ulm’s lone loss came at No. 1 singles as Riley Watson defeated Charlie Weidman 6-1, 6-3.

At No. 2 singles, Dan Brownfield defeated Aiden Harrer 6-2, 6-2, while Isaac Dittmer defeated Noah Batterman 6-1, 4-0 (retire) at No. 3 singles and Griffin Lehne defeated Spencer Corrigan at 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Wyatt Feucht and Thomas Lehne defeated Ben Monson and Lucas Deplazez 6-2, 6-1, while Everett Brown and Ryan Johnson defeated Jack Lansing and Leo Orsted-Bradly. At No. 3 singles, Hayden Owens and Cole Frederick defeated Parker Swanson and Evan Archer.

New Ulm hosts Yellow Medicine East in a meet on Tuesday at New Ulm High School.

MVL GIRLS 2ND AFTER 1ST LEG OF SCC TOURNAMENT

LE SUEUR — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran girls golf team trails Le Sueur-Henderson after the first leg of the South Central Conference Tournament as LSH won the first meet with a score of 456.

The MVL girls were second with a 465, while Maple River was 482, Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial was incomplete and St. Clair/Mankato Loyola was incomplete.

The MVL boys are in third after the first leg, which was won by LCWM (330). St. Clair/Loyola took second with a 354, followed by MVL (370), LSH (374) and Maple River (435).

The tournament is three 18-hold rounds. The second meet will take place April 29.

Rebecca Walters of Maple River was the girls medalist on Monday with an 83, followed by St. Clair/Loyola’s Celia Johnson (91) and Maple River’s Kylie Walters (102). St. Clair/Loyola’s Adyson Fox followed in fourth with a 103, while MVL’s Emilee Fuhr shot a 107 to finish fifth. MVL also has Kara Hinrichsen finish top 10 as she took ninth with a 118.

The boys were led on the day by LCWM’s Charlie Gengler, who shot a 78, while Abe Madson shot an 80 for second. St. Clair/Loyola’s Nathanael Olson and LCWM’s Easton Rode shot 83s to tie for third, while Nathan Tews of LSH shot an 85 for fifth and St. Clair/Loyola’s JJ Cumberland shot an 88 to tie with MVL’s Jackson Gerdts for sixth. MVL’s Philip Lukasek shot an 89 to tie with LCWM’s Brody Herbst for eighth, while St. Clair/Loyola’s Jon Pierce carded a 90 for 10th. MVL’s Owen Birkholz just missed the top 10 with a 91 for 11th.

SEU BOYS 167, GFW 200

SEU GIRLS 208, GFW 240

WINTHROP — Sleepy Eye United won a Tomahawk Division golf meet on Monday at Winthrop Golf Course as the boys won 167-200 and the girls won 208-240.

The boys medalist was SEU’s Nolan Kucera, who carded a 39, while teammate Anders Coulson shot a 40 for second. GFW’s Cole Jacobson shot a 44 to tie for third with SEU’s Eli Christensen and Isaac Christensen, while SEU’s Blaine Arneson shot a 46 for sixth. GFW’s Carson Lee shot a 49 for seventh.

The girls medalist was SEU’s Sam Price, who shot a 46, while teammate Kiara Murphy followed in second with a 47. SEU’s Ella Pollard shot a 54 for third, while GFW’s Kjerssa Jasinski shot a 56 for fourth and GFW’s Hadley Doehling shot a 58 for fifth. GFW’s Grace Bunkers shot a 60 for sixth and SEU’s Ruby Tauer carded a 61 for seventh.

SPRINGFIELD 12, GFW 0

FAIRFAX — The Springfield Tigers stayed unbeaten on the year by running by the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Firebirds 12-0 in five innings of a Tomahawk Division baseball game on Monday at Fairfax Memorial Park.

Madden Lendt and Aiden Moriarty combined for a five-inning one-hitter on the mound. Lendt got the win in three innings, allowing the one hit and walking six while striking out three. Moriarty pitched two innings, striking out four while not allowing any hits or walks.

Lendt was 3 for 4 with three RBIs to lead the Springfield bats, while Leo Hovland was 2 for 3 with four RBIs and Adiel Trevino was 2 for 4 with a triple. Ely Streich also tripled in a run.

GFW’s lone hit came off the bat of Owen Swenson.

Koufax Rose took the loss for GFW on the mound in two innings, allowing nine hits and a walk for six earned runs while striking out one.

Springfield (4-0, 4-0) hosts Lester Prairie on Thursday in a Tomahawk doubleheader, while GFW (0-4, 0-3) is at Sleepy Eye on Thursday for a Tomahawk doubleheader.

GSL 8, SIBLEY EAST 2

GLENCOE — Glencoe-Silver Lake defeated Sibley East 8-2 in a nonconference baseball game on Monday.

Alex Bachman took the loss for the Wolverines, striking out one while allowing four runs on two hits in 1 1/3 innings. At the plate, Ashton McCue was 2 for 3, while Nathan Schauer had a hit and an RBI. Will Feterl had a hit and a run scored.
