FAIRFAX — Luke Mielke struck out 17 batters as the Sleepy Eye Indians defeated the Fairfax Cardinals 5-2 on Saturday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Luke Mielke got the win in all nine innings, allowing four hits for two earned runs. Jon Petermann led the Indians at the plate, going 4 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Nick Mielke was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and Sean Salfer was 2 for 5.
Jacob Meyer was 1 for 4 with a homer and two RBIs to lead the Cardinals at the plate. Isaac Louwagie took the loss in all nine innings, allowing 10 hits and six walks for five earned runs while striking out 15.

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye Indians downed the Fairfax Cardinals for the second time on the weekend 3-2 Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Nick Mielke got the win on the mound in eight innings, striking out eight while allowing three hits and two unearned runs. Jon Petermann led the Indians at the plate, going 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI, while Matt Sellner was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Mielke was 2 for 5 at the plate as well.
Scott Palmer took the loss for Fairfax, striking out three while allowing three earned runs on 11 hits an four walks. Carter Peterson was 2 for 4 at the plate with a run scored, while Palmer picked up the team’s other hit.
Sleepy Eye (2-1) hosts Stark on Wednesday, May 29. Fairfax (0-3) hosts Essig on Sunday.
Hanska 9, Springfield 0
SPRINGFIELD — The Hanska Lakers defeated the Springfield Tigers 9-0 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Sunday.
Sam Knowles got the win for the Lakers, striking out five and allowing three hits in seven innings pitched. At the plate for Hanska, Chris Knowles was 3 for 5 with a home run and six RBIs, while Brady Mosenden was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Mason Leonard took the loss for Springfield, striking out three and allowing five earned runs on two hits and five walks in two innings. Brandon Wilhelmi pitched five innings in relief, striking out four and allowing three earned runs on seven hits. Jordan Milbrath struck out five in two hitless innings. At the plate, Ashtin Johnson was 2 for 4, while Jacob Poehler and Luke Boyle each had a hit.
Hanska (2-0) hosts New Ulm on Monday. Springfield (1-1) travels to St. James on Friday.

STARK — The Stark Longhorns downed the St. James Athletics 10-4 Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Josh Kopacek got the win for the Longhorns, striking out two while allowing one run on one hit in three innings pitched. Jon Kopacek started for Stark, striking out five and allowing three runs on four hits in four innings. At the plate for Stark, David Surprenant was 4 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs, while Tim Seifert and Adam Sellner each had a hit and two RBIs.
Jon Faber took the loss for St. James, striking out five and allowing 10 runs on 11 hits in eight innings. No hitting stats were reported.
Stark (2-1, 2-0) travels to Lamberton on Monday. St. James (0-2) hosts Springfield on Friday.
Courtland 13, Essig 3

ESSIG — The Courtland Cubs rolled the Essig Bluejays 13-3 in seven innings in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game Sunday.
Teddy Giefer got the win for Courtland, striking out five and allowing one hit and no runs in three innings of relief. Chase Meyer got the start, striking out two and allowing three earned runs on four hits in four innings. At the plate for the Cubs, Maddox Mortensen was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Carter Lang was 2 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Giefer added two hits, a double and two runs scored.
Sam Hansen took the loss for the Bluejays, allowing five runs on four hits and 1 1/3 innings. Mason Sellner and Jake Stadick were each 2 for 4,.
Courtland (1-1, 1-0) travels to Leavenworth on Sunday. Essig (0-1) travels to Fairfax on Sunday.

GIBBON — The New Ulm Brewers defeated the Gibbon Reds 6-3 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game Sunday.
