GIRLS BASKETBALL

Springfield 70, MVL 35

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield rolled MVL 70-35 Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Mackenzie Merseth led the Chargers with 11 points, while Avery Freier had 8 points and Olivia Hammer had 7 points.

Brooklyn Sturm had 20 points, 12 rebounds and three assists for Springfield, while Emma Hauger had 17 points, four rebounds and three assists and Jasmine Novotny had 16 points.

MVL (3-14, 2-9) travels to Tri-City United Thursday, while Springfield (11-8, 8-4) hosts Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart on Friday.

St. Mary’s 84, Cedar Mountain 57

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s ran through Cedar Mountain 84-57 Tuesday in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game.

Morgan Mathiowetz led St. Mary’s with 33 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while Brynne Ibberson had 13 points and nine rebounds and Amelia Schwartz had 11 points.

Aubrey Steffl had 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Cedar Mountain, while Brooklyn Diehn had 21 points and Kendra Erickson had 8 points and eight assists.

St. Mary’s (15-6, 11-3) will travel to Minnesota Valley Lutheran next Tuesday, while Cedar Mountain (8-15, 5-9) will play Wabasso on Friday.

Sleepy Eye 71, Wabasso 26

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye rolled Wabasso 71-26 in a Tomahawk Conference girls basketball game Tuesday.

Sleepy Eye was led by Kadence Hesse with 25 points, nine steals and nine assists, while Brea Mertz had 20 points and 10 assists and Paige Haala had 16 points.

No stats were reported for Wabasso.

Sleepy Eye (16-2, 10-1) travels to New Ulm Cathedral Friday, while Wabasso (4-16, 0-13) travels to Cedar Mountain Friday.

LCWM 72, Nicollet 52

LAKE CRYSTAL — Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial defeated Nicollet 72-52 Tuesday in a Valley Conference girls basketball game.

Savannah Klockziem led the Raiders with 19 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while Leah Bode had 16 points and six rebounds.

Nicollet (7-11) travels to Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Thursday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GFW 69, LSH 68

WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop topped Le Sueur-Henderson in a nonconference boys basketball game Tuesday night.

Dominic Rose had 24 points for GFW, while Alex Johnson had 22 points and Carter Klages had 15 points.

GFW (9-8) travels to Minnesota Valley Lutheran Thursday.

BOYS HOCKEY

Rochester Lourdes 0

ROCHESTER — New Ulm topped Rochester Lourdes 3-0 Tuesday night in a nonconference boys hockey game.

Austin Uecker had one goal and one assist, while Kaden Larson had one goal and Ian Brudelie had one goal.

New Ulm (16-5) hosts Windom on Friday.

Wabasso goes 1-2 at Madelia Quadrangular

MADELIA — Wabasso defeated Madelia/Truman 66-9 but fell to Sibley East 39-30 and Le Sueuer-Henderson 40-24 Tuesday at a quadrangular at Madelia High School.

Gavin Marotzke (152) and Ezekiel Olson (189) both went 3-0 in the quadrangular for Wabasso.
