The fifth-year senior from Wisconsin Lutheran High School in Milwaukee held the Eagles to no runs and three hits.
But in the top of the sixth, Northwestern solved Fromm, scoring four runs before adding two more in the sixth and an insurance run off reliever Aaron Bode and took a 7-2 win over the Knights in the first game of an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader at the MLC field.
Nick Drinken got the complete game win for the Eagles. He scattered eight hits and fanned 11.
Caleb Carlovsky, Carter Seitz and Jackson Lindemann each had two hits for the Knights with Mason Cox adding solo home run for Martin Luther.

Grady Karges had three hits for Northwestern.
“Michael Fromm, on his Senior Day, threw well,” Martin Luther College coach Randy Cox said. “He threw well for five innings, but we stranded too many runners (seven). We could not get that clutch hit, but I thought that we played well — I was proud of how we played this game.”
The Knights staked Fromm to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
Seitz, who was coming off a recent 5-for-5 day the plate, singled. Lindemann was hit by a pitch. Seitz later came home on a wild pitch.
That lead held up the fateful fifth when Isaac Pilon laced a one-out single and Mark Bigh was hit by a Fromm offering.
A Kargas double scored Pilon before Gil Garcia singled in two more runs. A double added another run for a 4-1 lead.
Northwestern pushed across a two more runs off of Fromm in the seventh in what was his last inning pitched for the Knights.
“He is done,” coach Cox said about Fromm. “He will be getting his (teaching) call. He did a nice job for us.”
The lack of offense for MLC was too much to overcome in the end.
“We have some guys who can knock it out of the ballpark — Mason had a nice rip, unfortunately there was no one on base,” coach Cox said. “We had some good swings again but stranded too many runners.”
The second game didn’t fair much better for MLC as Northwestern earned a 13-3 win, outhitting the Knights 16-8 on the way to the win.
Caleb Heckendorf was 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the Knights, while Christian Bachenberg was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Matt Rieger took the loss for MLC in six innings, giving up nine hits and three walks for five runs while fanning three.
Aaron Severson got the win for Northwestern in seven innings, giving up eight hits for three runs while striking out seven.
MLC (5-24, 1-19) is scheduled to play Northwestern one more time at home at 2 p.m. Saturday.
