PREP SOFTBALL

MVL 7, GFW 6

NEW ULM — Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 7-6 in a nonconference softball game on Thursday.

MVL won in the bottom of the seventh, with Jess Meunier scoring on a wild pitch to break a 6-6 tie.

Katlyn Stadick earned the win for the Chargers, striking out one in 2/3 of an inning. Nora Grace Otto pitched six innings, striking out four and allowing two runs on three hits and five walks. At the plate for MVL, Grace Onken and Avery Menk each had two hits and a run scored, while Kenzie Graham, Morgan Black and Taryn Gunderson each had a hit and an RBI.

Addison Donnay took the loss for GFW, striking out one and allowing one run on one hit in 1/3 of an inning. Ella Fitzpatrick pitched six innings, striking out four and allowing five earned runs on seven hits. At the plate, Lauren Schaefer and Donnay each had a hit and two RBIs.

MVL (5-14) and GFW (5-15) both await playoff seeding for their next games.

JCC 7, WABASSO 6

WABASSO — Wabasso lost a close on to Jackson County Central on Thursday, falling 7-6 in a nonconference softball game.

Wabasso was led by Audrey Johnson and Macy Rohlik, who each went 2 for 4. Johnson also had an RBI, while Aylah Jenniges had a double. Jenniges took the loss in a complete game, allowing 10 hits and three walks for six earned runs while striking out five.

Wabasso (16-5) awaits Section 3A playoff seeding next.

BLHS 3, MADELIA 1

MADELIA — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart defeated Madelia 3-1 in a nonconference softball game on Thursday.

Chloe Schultz earned the win for BLHS, striking out three and allowing one run on four hits in a complete game. At the plate for the Mustangs, Sadie Kirtz was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Emily Jacobs took the loss for the Blackhawks, striking out seven and allowing three runs on six hits in a complete game. At the plate, Jacobs had a hit and an RBI, while Madalyn Lehman had a hit and a run scored.

BLHS (5-16) awaits playoff seeding for its next game, while Madelia (5-17) plays at Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda on Friday.

ST. CLAIR BOYS 173, MVL BOYS 184

ST. CLAIR GIRLS 205, MVL 233

NORTH MANKATO — The St. Clair boys defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 173-184 and the St. Clair girls won 205-233 in a South Central Conference golf meet on Thursday.

On the boys side, MVL’s Philip Lukasek and St. Clair’s John Pierce tied for first (41). MVL’s Owen Birkholtz placed fifth (45), MVL’s Colby Dowring placed seventh (46) and MVL’s Logan Paulsen placed 15th (51).

For the MVL girls, Emilee Fuhr placed third with a 51, while Eden Grubbs, Eden Isaksson and Kara Hinrichsen all tied for eighth with a 58 and Annika Lowrey placed 11th (59). St. Clair’s Madi Linder placed first with a 46.
