WABASSO — New Ulm Cathedral took a 26-0 halftime lead and held on in the second half for a 39-28 win over Wabasso on Wednesday night in a Southwest District football game.
Cathedral was led by Levi Franta’s 116 yards rushing and touchdown, while Kyle Seidl ran for 165 yards and three TDs. Quarterback Jake Finstad rushed twice for 58 yards and two TDs also for Cathedral, while Levi Jakes had seven carries for 52 yards and Isaac Miller had a 33-yard reception. Joe Gillis was in on 14 tackles for the Cathedral defense, while Thomas Finstad was in on 13 tackles and had an interception.
Wabasso was led by Adryen Tietz, who completed 12 of 30 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 153 yards and two TDs on 11 carries. Mason Kampsen added 50 yards rushing on 13 carries for the Rabbits, while Noah Anderson had seven catches for 137 yards and a TD and Chase Irlbeck had three catches for 74 yards and a TD. Irlbeck led the Rabbits on defense with 9 1/2 tackles, while Boston Brand had 7 1/2 tackles and Zach Skoblik had seven tackles.
Both teams await playoffs next Tuesday.
Sleepy Eye 46, SJA 15
SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye coasted to a 46-15 win over St. James Area on Wednesday night in a Southwest District football game.
Arian Saenz led the Indians with 16 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown, while Mason Meyers ran for 61 yards and two TDs. Gaige Bauer also had two TD runs and 56 yards on 10 carries for Sleepy Eye, while Nolan Weicherding had a 43-yard TD run, Caden Evers had two TD runs and Austin Uecker had two catches for 24 yards.
Alex Dominguez led the Indians on defense with two interceptions and five tackles.
Sleepy Eye awaits playoffs next Tuesday.
Cedar Mountain 55,
WWG 19
MORGAN — Behind Cooper Freitag’s six-touchdown night, Cedar Mountain rolled to a 55-19 win over Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Wednesday night in a 9-man, South District football game.
Freitag ran for 200 yards and five TDs on 12 carries while also completing 6 of 10 passes for 91 yards and a score to lead the Cougars. Christian Belcher also had a big night on the ground, rushing for 167 yards and two TDs on six carries. Brannden Pendleton had four catches for 90 yards and a score also for Cedar Mountain, while Easton Csordacsics had two catches for 32 yards.
Defensively for the Cougars, Lane Guggisberg had two interceptions, Blake Steffl had one interception and Belcher had 5 1/2 tackles.
Cedar Mountain awaits playoffs next Tuesday.

New Ulm 27
WORTHINGTON — Worthington defeated New Ulm 35-27 on Wednesday night in a South Central District football game.

Edgerton 3, Madelia 0
EDGERTON — Edgerton swept Madelia 25-15, 25-15, 25-21 on Wednesday in a nonconference volleyball match.
Brooke Lensing led Madelia with nine kills, while Ashley Sorenson had 23 set assists and four kills and Corban Tatro had 12 digs, five kills and two aces. Also for Madelia, Jada Taylor had 10 digs, while Ashlynn Sweet had five kills.
