VFW Silver win Luverne tourney

LUVERNE — The New Ulm VFW Silver won the Luverne Junior Legion Baseball Tournament this past weekend, defeating Sanford 8-0 on Friday, the Midwest Vandals 6-1 on Saturday and the Marshall VFW Orange 4-2 on Sunday.

In the win over Sanford, Hudson Lieser was 2 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Silver, while Blake Aufderheide was 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Owen Drill earned the win in five innings, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out five.

In the win over the Vandals on Saturday, the Silver were led by Owen Drill, who was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Bobby Rewitzer got the win on the mound in seven innings, allowing four hits and one walk for one earned run while striking out nine.

In the title game, New Ulm was led by Owen Drill and Aufderheide, who each went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Owen Drill had a double, while Lieser and Ethan Drill added two RBIs apiece. Wyatt Hansen got the pitching win in six innings, allowing eight hits and one walk for two earned runs while striking out five.

New Ulm is now 4-0 on the year.
